    Liberations

What started of a nice day here when i spoke to Andy mckie at the back of nine this morning deteriorated from lunchtime has been heavy rain here since one o'clock full cloud cover at present like a November day outside Midland doos should have been well home by then ,i did not send today but been speaking to a mate and solway doos seem a bit gappy
  3. Two years ago Jimmy Dals great hen Hoddam Dynamo returned from the Newbury National minus a tail then never seen a training basket at all only being exercised with his youngsters ,and then won the Falaise National by 23yds some doo in the hands of a Master Doo Man ,although i have found personally one's that have been targeted that close go to ground very easy (cant blame them) But as stated there are always exceptions .I have six racers left one for eastbourne ,two for the gold cup with the other three with tail feathers missing from hawk strikes ,that's 50% of my team been struck just shows the seriousness of our problem that's why i never stop them now when they are going well as they will surely succumb to the hawk the following season sad state of affairs lads .
  4. A no win situation i think Walter trying to keep fellow fanciers happy ,I can see both sides of the argument yes there are those who wish to race even if they have one pigeon and there are others like myself who once the nationals start have no wish to enter club racing,i agree with you that we should be wanting the fed to make a profit in the interests of the members ,perhaps we should be looking at ways of making comeback races more appealing eg yearling special nom for good prise money or the likes ,if i had a large team still to race yes i would compete but when i have only a few cant take the gamble dropping them from a meaningless race when they are earmarked for the nationals ,also feel at this stage of the season national pigeons don't need to be trained or raced as rest and motovaton are of greater benefit omo
  5. Got my four best back out of seven sent ,my mate KT got nine out of ten ,SNFC race .
  6. Well Done to George Mann a fantastic performance beating our south doos in those conditions not met the gentleman but will buy him a drink at the presentation
  7. Thanks got him back into his routine and he's bouncing again ,moffat water are holding a summer triples like last year at the bowls way ma luck is at pres may win it to tell your da and jaffa tae get doon all see them ok . A BIG WELL DONE TO GEORGE MANN
  8. Raining at present in Moffat
  9. Well done on your birds performance .
  10. I no how hard it was for my bird homing into the strong wind and for George Mann's to home into airdrie exactly one hour later after having to negotiate the high hills to the back of me is a truly fantastic achievement top top marks
  11. My candidates for the gold cup prior to Saturdays race were my two timers so nothing changes regarding sending them, only real worry now is the activity of the female peregrines suggesting that the young are growing well enough for the females to start hunting further afield eg my loft so the next two weeks early morning and evening exercise will be very nervy to say the least so far to early for me to guarantee them going into the race ,just have to say a wee prayer each night problem is a dinnae ken any
  12. Just had a visit from my friend who has been visiting his family here who run a hotel which he owns ,this is the same gentleman who lives only 22 miles from Marlborough and who visited our race team on the Friday afternoon and commented on the wonderful condition of the birds ,he has just said that south coast feds racing from France on Saturday had horrendous returns and cant think it was just wind speed on the channel that prevented so many fit birds from homing ,If Mr Mann wins our national think i am right in stating he races with the midland fed who race the west route yet the first four in the solway region all raced with the fed this year down the a1 route so don't think we can look to much into race point personally think that certain doos that are motivated and determined on the day will break from the convoy and hold a racing line on this occasion i was lucky enough to own such a bird ,but as we all no there are more negatives than positives at this game omo
  13. The velocity timed at 3 at 321 mls would be 1141-33 at 320 mls would be 1137-77 this is only on dead minutes and miles so looks good to win
  14. Many thanks he is in wonderful condition new he was right when i took his hen to him on Thursday night and when he seen it in my hand flew from his box and landed on top of his hen that i was holding and when i put his hen in the box he jumped back onto my hand and tried to tread me
  15. Oh well second again maybe
  16. If he does hope its a hen
  17. Don't now about the k-factor but what about the P factor certain they don't stop killing on a Saturday, watched one female falcon attack a large convoy of lanarkshire yb's at beattock in the early nineties turned and scattered thousands they were going everywhere rang jocky harrison and told him not to expect them on time as they were going in every direction but north, now that was twenty years ago and we all no how it has since multiplied doesn't take much working out ,Joe Murphy proposed the idea many years ago that we should hire the use of a small aircraft firm to film and follow our doos after liberation and try and solve the high losses that could occur at least then it would be proof of what is actually taking place instead of all this guess work ,his idea was shot down pardon the pun the guy was not suggesting we have the plane feet behind them got to give this idea a chance ,the birds could be getting attacked every four miles such are there numbers the convoys would be scattered to the four corners within the first hour convinced this is the cause after witnessing it so many times first hand .
  18. Spot on there Andy everything in writing ,take a point between Glasgow and Edinburgh and draw a line dead centre of the country then fair for everyone ,was sitting yesterday with jumper and jacket on murder man, mind you good doos in a1 condition will come from anywhere on there day good luck for the remaining races
