  3. Also noticed the moon in the sky every day this week andy and have seen some funny returns when this happens, total blue sky here this morning with the sun just rising over the hills at present very cold outside with a ground frost, good luck to all today,SUMMERS JUST AROUND THE CORNER
  4. Having only started on widowhood last year I have also got a lot to learn,we all make mistake's but as my late uncle stated if you make the same one twice your thick.Found i got some of my best results with altering things with the cocks regarding there boxes sometimes would allow them 3 boxes each, stick another cock in one half of the box, found that they performed best when kept to a very strict routine and also perfecting the feeding regarding the race and conditions play's a big factor, overfeeding will be most fanciers downfall whether natural or widowhood ,whatever best to do what suits yourself but always remember system system
  5. Once encountered a problem with a stock bird showing the same symptoms with walking around in circles with a twisted neck ,I rang a very good friend and explained the facts stating they were never out of that section and had not mixed with others ,his reply was simple you have a mouse in the loft,I argued that there were no mice in this loft and was told by my friend to go and check which i did,he was 100% correct as i found a mouse in a storage area ,once the mouse had been disposed of and i had found where it had got in ,I then disposed of the pigeon and never encountered that again ,so be careful and don't always blame the obvious as mice are terrible carriers of disease as they urinate almost non stop and pigeons will readily pick at there droppings .
  6. With the forcast of temp in single figures mine won't be going anywhere big losses in our fed last week and moffat is full of lost pigeons far far to cold,if people wish to race that is there choice they pay the bills but not for me thanks

  11. Whilst the wind is in the east and weekend temp will struggle at 8 degrees my birds wont be in any race basket if that means not racing so be it,strongly feel distance in good weather is no problem to a fit and healthy bird, find it astonishing that our organisations never put the pigeons welfare first if the temp stay like this we should try racing in november was f- warmer then, good friend of mine jumped a cock bird into first national as a training toss prior to the gold cup the pigeon left 5000 trailing and won the national he then won the gold cup 2 weeks later with another bird was that because they were spot on and not raced in duff weather i think so ,but everyone to there own
