Just wondering when you see all these adverts in BHW and online about all these fantastic new strains for sale at silly money, is this why we lose so many YBS ? generations of not flying, because whose going to race a bird who cost these crazy prices? :emoticon-0127-lipssealed:

I might be a sceptic and miserable old git but do we really believe even half of the birds sold are from what they say they are from anyway. :emoticon-0127-lipssealed:

Im glad you brought that question up :emoticon-0127-lipssealed:

I see lot of the big name bred birds that are sold for larger sums of money now come with a DNA certificate.

yeh, and not raced for generations

yeh, and not raced for generations

And because of the money paid the same bought bird won't be raced either but put in a stock loft for breeding and recuperating some of the money paid out by sell on numerous Ybs bred for that reason.

People can say anything and make rubbish sound good, they’re just good sales men. You hear it regularly, ask what they think their best breeding pairs are so you can look at buying them and first thing said back, oh your best buying a full round off my stock birds, anything for you to part with your money. I gladly give full rounds from my stock away as it’s not all about taking peoples money.

Some of the birds that are provided to the charity sales are pathetic, they must just send what ever looks worse in the loft at the time as the money isn’t in their own pocket.

the one thing - Plus lol - is they have a 'Write Up' one week how being just a small back garden flyer with no more than 20 pairs ever … then a few weeks later A. they have famous fancier endorsing their birds That they have flown to a very good and large extentand B. they are selling 1000's lol

I can only comment on birds I have personally seen from charity sales. I haven’t raced pigeons for long, have 16 pair of stock birds that have bred me winners from my very first race in Liverpool til present in Scotland so I either have done my homework or just been very very lucky. Asking people their honest opinion on what pair breeds the best performance birds is doing your homework but, being told to buy a full round from them is not a honest reply, especially if the novices haven’t been fortunate enough to speak to genuine honest fliers.

Each to their own, if they’re more interested in making money from supply and demand that’s is up to them to buy full rounds knowing the majority of them will come to nothing, it just makes that person feel better mentally and the seller gets rid of a full round in one go. I personally would rather find genuine people who will tell you their best pairs knowing you might only buy a few of his best birds. Majority of the people who buy full rounds then advertise the crap ones as proven breeders, others breed more crap from them and the chain goes on. I seem to of been doing good doing it my way so, will stick to that way.
