REDCHEQHEN Posted May 8, 2018 Report Posted May 8, 2018 As is usual, the youngsters start their basket training on a Saturday morning, they go in the basket early on a Saturday morning weather permitting and sit in the basket until the early evening with the drinkers on. One of the youngsters has some terrible injuries from the wire on one of those blue drinkers. The wire got down the life ring, pierced the youngsters legs and at some point it has been thrashing about and the wing looks like it's been hawked, feathers missing etc. The leg was pouring with blood Perhaps we need to shorten the wires on the drinkers but wonder if that would be even more dangerous Has anybody else has any accidents or injuries with these blue drinkers?
THE FIFER Posted May 8, 2018 Report Posted May 8, 2018 stick a bit rubber or something on the ends of them, i have drinkers on the cages which are on the landing boards for youngsters getting a look around etc,

paddymac Posted May 8, 2018 Report Posted May 8, 2018 I had the same experience a few seasons back when basket training my Ybs also, I now use cork bottle tops that I have tapered so their not too bulky that has solved the problem.
