Only the ets ring number and loft number is stored on ring.

The clock then holds the rest of the information.

Thank you for replies, the reason for asking had a young bird come in the owner said he doesn't have ets and lost bird long time ago, if true which I have no reason to doubt, then someone has been very naughty, how can I tell what system it come from as not having ets no ideas at all

Each ets company had different looking rings. Google the ets sites and look at the rings. To be honest would be hard to find out who was racing it.

The colour of ETS ring might narrow it down.

Tauris ETS blue and also black ,Tell me i know i am thick ,can someone use a ring stolen off another doo as long as its for same brand of clock,I seen fowk saying ETS taken off their doos on occasion.

Yes,but you would have to get your secretary or whoever allocates your rings to your birds to reallocate it to one of yours.

How about if the guy who lost the bird says to the guy who finds it you can keep it if you like,so the finder puts a ETS ring on it and sends it training to see if the bird will keep coming to his loft before he gets it transferred,bird gets lost gets reported to original owner.

A very plausible explanation, but not in this case owner lost bird months ago and first time reported now
