Spend a lot of money training privately so they come home as a team then hope for some good luck on race day. :)

can you explain andy how that works on race day when they are not in a team in same basket ? :animatedpigeons:

From my point of view, being well off the drag route, I don't want to train with the drag, they need to break far earlier than the rest, so their training points just do not suit me. :)

andy i dont train old birds and most weeks i get multiple pigeons so all that training is pointless in my eyes :animatedpigeons:

I'm training un-raced late-bred YB's. Need to get their heads into gear. I am also well out in the sticks and rarely see race pigeons, except my own. :)

Tommy, I'm gaining confidence all the time, but I don't know if I'm ready for that yet. I used to worry that I might make mistakes and the pigeons would suffer for it, now I know I will make mistakes, but the pigeons will just have to get on with it. I try not to make the same mistakes twice. I remember something Frank Baillie used to say, " pigeon fanciers give products to their pigeons because it makes them feel good." Training them makes me feel as though I am doing my bit to get their heads into gear, fitness being gained through loft flying.

When I met my first racing man, I was the boy scraping out. He didn't train much either. He was retired and nobody offered to help him out. He beat them all most weeks despite this, and raced from start to end including the Nationals, wish I had listened better and remembered more. :)

Sorry Tommy but I have to disagree with you old yin :emoticon-0136-giggle: . ( and I hope you don't charge me more for my feeding.) I know for a fact you've had better fed results with a smaller team . But what I would add is that a good home routine knowadays is better than what we all used to do . Which was up and down the road at least twice a day. And what I would say now is you're only taking goodness out the birds. :drinking-coffee-200:
