paddymac Posted October 19, 2015 Report Posted October 19, 2015 Chipboard or decking screws would do as good a job as any

William Reid Posted October 19, 2015 Report Posted October 19, 2015 with mdf I find its best to drill pilot holes 1stthen use wood screws, prevents the mdf splittingTotally agree . But hopefully the base will be ply
showman Posted October 19, 2015 Report Posted October 19, 2015 Totally agree . But hopefully the base will be ply Fair point. If using MDF all round, could I humbly suggest 'cross members' of 2x1 to prevent any warping in floors especially.

The MDF will cause mould if not cleaned everyday which will cause resp-- infection . The ply will always digest the droppings :emoticon-0136-giggle:

The ply will always digest the droppings :emoticon-0136-giggle: Bang on billy , it also swells and when scraped becomes hairy and it breaks down , even when painted . And double threaded screws are by far the best for mdf or chipboard .
