In our first race from Kelso, 6 dropped and trapped quick but only 4 timed. In our second race from Kelso, 2 timed then 5 dropped and only 4 timed in. Later Blue 1726 went in but never timed. I put him over the pad at both sides but nothing. I tried him on the old bird pads and still no luck. My returns were 26/29. I forgot to switch the ETS of and on Monday when they came in 26 recorded including 1726.

so why :emoticon-0179-headbang:

We had an intermittent fault on one of our rings and changed it 'just in case'. Sometimes when several birds go over the mat together the odd one or two doesn't register.

Why - I don't know though

Never found a ring to work one day and not the next when they fail they fail

Good luck

ive had same problem sue when to many birds on the pad at the same time another cause is to many birds on the clock the more on the clock the longer it takes to find the bird and the bird is off the pad and in while the clock is still searching the less birds on the clock the quicker it finds them so best to get lost birds taken off each year

Thanks guys, I did notice after the first race that 1726`s ets ring was open on his leg and closed it. I suppose it could have taken a knock and damaged the chip but it did mark okay at the 2nd race. I will give him a new ring for the next race. Thanks for the comments. Allan :emoticon-0167-beer:

The pads are only able to time one pigeon at a time, so when two cross the same pad at the same time, only one is recorded. The only way to prevent this is to slow them down by creating a tunnel where only one is able to cross the pad at a time. If you are prone to multiple drops and not wanting to slow them then increase the number of tunnels and pads. :)

We do not bin any rings - they have a lifetime guarantee

We return the faulty ones each year with a letter - always with another club order - and the faulty ones are replaced :animatedpigeons:

Same here, all faulty rings are returned and replaced

So just say out for saying 500 rings for 10 club members, who pays the postage and package on the return Pat, small club mind, not like the big clubs. :animatedpigeons:

Dougie we dont use Unikon here but we use Bricon and Tipes in our club and any faulty rings are returned and replaced by the reps here in the north of Ireland.

A know what your saying mate, but for an instance, you sell 500 rings and 30 are faulty out the batch, can you send them away free postage, and get them back at the same of no extra cost to the club or federation. :animatedpigeons:

I can only speak for the Tipes rings Dougie, but any faulty rings are returned to the rep K. Kernahan which in our circumstances doesn't require postage as he lives about 40mls from Derry and we have the rings replaced.

Some interesting theories here guys, but my birds go through bob wires into a box with one pad. The second set of wires are across 14" so they must pass over it to get to their section. The pad should be reading to 100th of a second. eg the last race when 4 dropped in, they timed at 36 secs and 3 on 39 secs. The clock is supposed to take 500 rings but I clear mine at the start of the season. this season started with 36 O/B`s then added 36 Y/b`s. As has already been said "bin the ring" thanks.
