Hi all. I've never really thought about going on ets however things have changed and I need a few questions answered please!

1) can more than one system be used in a club, like one on union and another on tauris?

2) if I get it, I'll be making a form of trapping through the bottom of the door, how big would the opening be?

3) can someone on a t3 compeat with ets?

Any help, advice would really be helpful. Atb Andy :)

1) More than one system can be used in a Club, but it is better to check with your Club what system the majority are using rather than have multiple systems.

2) The pigeons record their time of arrival by crossing over a pad. The opening required for trapping would depend on the size of this pad. The pad size depends on the system you opt for.

3) Fanciers with T3's are able to beat fanciers with ETS. The clocking system makes no difference to the pigeon. Some on T3's are very adept at removing rubbers and clocking their arrivals. There is a T3 fancier in my Club that regularly takes the first 3 or 4 places. :)

The guy who wins in your club Andy has the best pigeons, if he was on ETS his times would be even better rolleyes.gif

He uses stall traps and can time within the same second. He doesn't always win and he doesn't always have 4 on the drop, but he does have good pigeons and he is an excellent fancier. He has the best pigeons on the day when he manages this sort of result and he is always there or there about. :)

My point was that ETS won't make any fancier better, but yes, it could help on the split second decisions. :)

Cheers for the reply. In my club last year the old birds was between me and another guy both using t3s this Year the other guy will be on ets.. Just curious whether to join him on that or not?

It'll definately gain him a few seconds if using ETS and that will give him an advantage to put him ahead to win

My thoughts too, problem is there's 5 weeks till our first race. Cocks are flying well atm and trapping through the open door, don't feel I have time to spin things round there is feel my best option would be get it for ybs?

Andyyy, what type of racing is it that you look to do well with?

In sprints, the ETS can easily be the difference between 1st and 5th.

Is it worth risking upsetting them so near to racing? Might put them off for a short time, but you should know your own pigeons and whether they will overcome the change quickly or not.

You trap to open door into a trapping corridor. How do they reach their sections? Could the ETS go there, thus their system is not changing? Could you sort your ETS trapping system at section entrance, but continue to use your T3 in the trapping corridor, if need be? :)

IMO if you both had say 4 on the drop, you using a T3 & him using ETS your first pigeon on the clock would be at no disadvantage, couldn't say the same about your next three pigeons though. Whilst going to box to box to time your others in he's would more than likely all be on the clock. If its just firsts your after you'll be on an equal footing BUT if prizes won count towards being highest prize winner he's got the edge on you.

I'm looking at sprint racing, and just wanting the best from my birds in can get, trying the old birds on ets now would be silly so I think I'll be investing for the ybs least I have the time to change stuff around and get them trained different trapping method, again, thanks for the replies :)

another aspect andy is birds trap much better when they know they are not going to be caught when entering the loft wasted a few good birds catching them week after week m8 for that point alone its worth getting

This was point I was going to mention

I had ETS pad on widowhood loft 2013 but the natural section was sputnik so I needed to catch then go to pad and scan birds from natural loft

I had 2 birds drop and there was over 50 seconds between the bird in sputnik and one straight over ETS pad, I aint slow at catching them so amazed me at the seconds lost. I'd say if I was timing to a T3 rather than over to ETS pad would still have been around 20 seconds difference!

But the change in my birds knowing I don't go near loft other than a whistle from top of garden is like night and day! they trap the best they ever have and I think its saves over a minute from when standard clock

I agree Walter I have a 2012 cock who's won a few times and had 2nds if he hadn't been caught week in week out he would have several top fed positions too, I was tempted by ets a while back but it was the hassle of changing loft etc etc, however I feel to compete in need to be on a level playing field and if that means ets then so be it.
