flying fifer Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 It's like everything else in life......ye pays yer money, ye takes yer chances. We all have opinions, many differing to the extreme. We shouldn't be knocking the competitors for having a go, there is so much negativety about our wonderful sport, or should I say so many negative thinking people. Anyone, anywhere, should be applauded for having a go. This race certainly is being "viewed" by a hell of a lot of people on this site. Admittedly it's not for the faint hearted, consider how many young birds are lost over a season in "normal" racing. Each to their own, don't knock it till you've tried it, again only my opinion.
C WRIGHT Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 Well said for all Now the supporters let's get behind These guys
WulDon Posted December 22, 2014 Author Report Posted December 22, 2014 (edited) as in previous years this thread is started for the follow by interested fanciers of this extreme one loft race, yes there are ups n downs along the way... but doo racing in every corner of the globe has it up n downs, as well as on our door step, my first young bird race this year can only be described as a personal disaster... not once did I point a finger or air my comments on a an open forum! so come on lads give us a break, we have had the balls to enter pigeons so lets hear some positivity for a change... one loft racing around the world has its bad days, if I didn't create this thread each year some of you wouldn't know it existed... so lets enjoy the banter!, its no different from local club n fed racing in most cases imo, just check your fed birdage first and last young bird races, feel free to post the success stories! kirky Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 I agree that this race is bad for the sport, going by past results and returns it is more for the ego of those fanciers that can afford to enter birds,I see very little evidence that this is a race where good birds come to the fore, but birds sent to suffer the stress of not making it home from relatively short distances,In my opinion this race does nothing to encourage members into our sport and is infact a very bad advertisement for pigeon fanciers and the sport in general....JBC/.. I agree with you fully mate and its not a good bird that wins this race its a lucky one, just hope one day thay ban it does nothing for the sport.
jr Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 dont think its making a point about issues its just an opinion about this race,i started this season with 47 young bird which all flew the full programme of 10 races losing only one and picking up some decent results along the way easy and hard days, should these have been in the tenerife endurance race i dont think there would have been many left thats just my opinion.

I said I would not comment further but since you have made a comment regarding my losses with young birds last year, yes your right I dropped 23 from a training toss from 30 miles when no birds made it home to the loft on the day, never lost another bird either tossing or the race they were entered into, have I learned anything from that day,I would like to think so,since you mention my losses, how about yours..?how many y/birds did you lose last year...?

I lost 58 at first race, got them through the training though... 28 tosses! and well trained!!... learnt something also, training programme has to be more severe to compete with a different Fed, point I'm trying to make is the fact, don't critisise young bird losses when we are no experts ourselves, Tenerife no different if you look at the big world wide picture, good luck with your tread, wee tip... choose your words wisely or you'll get hung oot to dry my friend

just ask me Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 on other sites thay don't seem to have anything to do with it, shame this site has to cover it. have seen it covered many a time on other sites and on Facebook so it must be shame on us all one loft racing is not for everyone i myself was very unsure about these races but after been in the algarve one loft race this year and seen the lofts the management team and the enthusiasm they have for the birds i will be giving it a go there returns were excellent i think there were a few members off here in the algrave that taught the same
