harry h Posted October 23, 2014 Report Posted October 23, 2014 I'm feeding mine Non-GMO Whole Wheat over the winter months, you can get it at any Norvite Store.
Kyleakin Lofts Posted October 23, 2014 Report Posted October 23, 2014 Gibb of Galston stock non-GM grain for chickens. I have contacted their supplier and the supplier has verbal guaranteed all their pigeon mixes except one. I am now waiting on William getting prices for me.I also contacted Frasers and am waiting for them to get back to me. They are able to make non-GM mixes, but what the contents and price will be is the information that I await. Glad that a chick's view is being appreciated. I have been reading her stuff for some time now and it is very interesting.

billt Posted October 23, 2014 Report Posted October 23, 2014 What would be the worry in using GM products?, virtually everything in the world is GM mostly done by nature
walterboswell59 Posted October 23, 2014 Author Report Posted October 23, 2014 What would be the worry in using GM products?, virtually everything in the world is GM mostly done by nature think the post explained what the worries are bill
billt Posted October 23, 2014 Report Posted October 23, 2014 Walter, If the view is that today's feeds are responsible for increased losses in our pigeons I don't go along with it, today's feeds are far superior to what we were feeding 30/40 yrs. ago and the same applies to humans, there are many more oldies now than we've ever had. I think with our affluent society we keep many more birds than we used to and breed off them whereas our fathers and grand-fathers were much more selective in what they kept.
William Reid Posted October 23, 2014 Report Posted October 23, 2014 Me again. .'Frankenfood' FearsThe term genetically modified food (also known as biotech or genetically engineered food) refers to crop plants that have been modified in the laboratory to enhance desired traits, such as resistance to herbicides or improved nutritional content. Experts say this science, like any other, has no guarantees. Risks include: Introducing allergens and toxins to foodAccidental contamination between genetically modified and non-genetically modified foodsAntibiotic resistanceAdversely changing the nutrient content of a cropCreation of "super" weeds and other environmental risksBenefits include: Increased pest and disease resistancesDrought toleranceIncreased food supply. Ps .taken from the interwed not a book
Kyleakin Lofts Posted October 24, 2014 Report Posted October 24, 2014 do you know which one they would not garantee m8 as i use there stuff during racing so would be nice to know Walter, it is not Gibb's own lines, it is a supplier of chicken feed, but they also make pigeon mixes. Gibb does not currently stock the pigeon mixes and that is why I have asked William to get prices, etc.
