By the way the writer is a lady (Professor) :emoticon-0136-giggle: :emoticon-0136-giggle:

gibb of galston says they ask for non gm grain for there mix but weather they get it or not is a different story ian

Gibb of Galston stock non-GM grain for chickens. I have contacted their supplier and the supplier has verbal guaranteed all their pigeon mixes except one. I am now waiting on William getting prices for me.

I also contacted Frasers and am waiting for them to get back to me. They are able to make non-GM mixes, but what the contents and price will be is the information that I await. :)

Glad that a chick's view is being appreciated. I have been reading her stuff for some time now and it is very interesting. :)

Walter, If the view is that today's feeds are responsible for increased losses in our pigeons I don't go along with it, today's feeds are far superior to what we were feeding 30/40 yrs. ago and the same applies to humans, there are many more oldies now than we've ever had. I think with our affluent society we keep many more birds than we used to and breed off them whereas our fathers and grand-fathers were much more selective in what they kept.

'Frankenfood' Fears

The term genetically modified food (also known as biotech or genetically engineered food) refers to crop plants that have been modified in the laboratory to enhance desired traits, such as resistance to herbicides or improved nutritional content. Experts say this science, like any other, has no guarantees. Risks include:

Introducing allergens and toxins to food

Accidental contamination between genetically modified and non-genetically modified foods

Antibiotic resistance

Adversely changing the nutrient content of a crop

Creation of "super" weeds and other environmental risks

Benefits include:

Increased pest and disease resistances

Drought tolerance

Increased food supply. :animatedpigeons::emoticon-0140-rofl:

Ps .taken from the interwed not a book :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

Walter, it is not Gibb's own lines, it is a supplier of chicken feed, but they also make pigeon mixes. Gibb does not currently stock the pigeon mixes and that is why I have asked William to get prices, etc. :)

i agree with you there bill but also seems to be more virus and other stuff around we did not have before and when it starts harming birds and animals and they stop eating certain grains maybe they are telling us something im afraid i just dont trust goverment or big companies who stand to make millions its scary stuff imo and id rather just not feed it if possible
