buster151 Posted October 21, 2014 Report Posted October 21, 2014 Would you still have to pay RPRA fees as well?
harry h Posted October 21, 2014 Report Posted October 21, 2014 just the £3.50 that lets you buy rings, but I still have to pay SHU fees.
geordie1234 Posted October 21, 2014 Report Posted October 21, 2014 So anyone can pay the 3.50 and get rings?
Jumbo Posted October 21, 2014 Report Posted October 21, 2014 And you don't have to pay to transfer them
harry h Posted October 21, 2014 Report Posted October 21, 2014 So anyone can pay the 3.50 and get rings? Yes Geordie and as Jumbo said, no transfer fees.
Kyleakin Lofts Posted October 21, 2014 Report Posted October 21, 2014 NWHU are stirring up a hornets nest within the other Unions over this and some other matters. I suppose it is a sort of boundary war. Clubs poach members from within another club's boundary, Feds likewise and now Unions. If NWHU can give membership for £3-50, what do they give with their membership? If their rings cost 15p, what sort of quality are the rings? If the rings are of the same quality, why do the other organisations charge 40p?Lots of questions, who has the answers? The fact remains that everyone is looking for value for money. If something is too good to believe is it really as good as you think? Just more pointers that the sport / hobby needs re-organised.

Andy, maybe the NWHU are just not into ripping people off. :emoticon-0127-lipssealed:
clockman Posted October 21, 2014 Report Posted October 21, 2014 15p thats great think we are 40 p31p from SHU but I'm sure your fed adds to it.

geordie1234 Posted October 21, 2014 Report Posted October 21, 2014 For 3.50 and the chance to get the rings at that price some may not care what the union membership give them? What do the shu do for me? I'm no sure

Nothing wrong with the rings at all, no fading of numbers or problems with cracking. I would say at least 60% of my fed use these rings even though were situated in the south east of England. No poaching involved, we looked for alternative rings when the RPRA issued rings with lugs on to accept ETS chips. The RPRA shot themselves in the foot by not giving fanciers the choice of the type of ring they wanted which rubbed the conventional clockers up the wrong way.

Freedom of choice, rules for racing under if your club/fed so desires http://www.nwhu.co.uk/rulebook2014.pdf
paddymac Posted October 21, 2014 Report Posted October 21, 2014 What does any of the unions do for their members??
REDCHEQHEN Posted October 21, 2014 Report Posted October 21, 2014 In the UNC the clubs buy their rings directly from the NEHU (and not the federations) payment in advance or the club doesn't get their rings!! The federations usually have federation 'gold rings' where the birds race for prize money - and are priced accordingly (maybe £5 a ring) but I think we paid 22p per ring last year with the NEHU
ghostrider Posted October 21, 2014 Author Report Posted October 21, 2014 Another point, don't know if you have ever noticed this"....The Rpra inside diameter of ring gets smaller, compared to what they were,a few years agoi have had to CUT rings off some stock Pvdmrs, along with 1/2 Soontjen cocks. Not with NWHU rings tho,so I've been told, plenty of room for leg growth! My mates have using their rings for years,so there you goMe I'm joining this week! gulkie Posted October 21, 2014 Report Posted October 21, 2014 What does any of the unions do for their members??Like every one else try to get as much money out of the fanciers as posA fine example is the ETS rings ,they prób cost pennies to produce???.Good on the NWHU for starting a ring war.

Seems so far the only questions answered areThe cheap rings are still good quality, perhaps better than some in some opinions, and therefore not a rip off, unlike most of the other Unions / Ring Suppliers who rip off members regarding the cost of the rings they supply. No answer regards why the other Unions charge more for their rings. There also seems to be deep dis-satisfaction regarding the Unions with regards to what they do do on behalf of their members. Just more pointers that the sport / hobby needs re-organised.
