Any Help ?

I've been suffering for a few years now with tinnitus,both ears plus loss of hearing,anyone out there with any help/advice would be appreciate,pm if you want.Drs. not much help along with others that I have been to see.

Had it for years m8 and yes as u say not much help, you just have to get used to it, where did you work

Sorry to report that nothing can be done for our ailment with their being no test to prove or disprove sufferers. I think mine started in 1981 when commissioning high pressure steam pipes and the noise was so loud I was physically vibrating. However a German Doctor reported that his findings showed that users of Quinine were susceptable to tinnitus and as I in the past manufactured pure Quinine thought I might be able to apply for work related injury "wishful thinking" So if you have been bevying on Gin and Tonics that could be the source if you were drinking the gin and a quinine tablet without the tonic water LOL.

P.S. We just have to suffer the ringing and I have an aid for each lug and learning to lip read.

My hearing is poor too because of it. I was impressed by an article on it a few years back which inferred you can train yourself not to hear it. The writer said what we are hearing is blood coursing through blood vessels in the head / ear - you don't hear other internal organ sounds from other bits of your body so the writer reckoned you shouldn't hear this either.

 

To be honest I don't suffer all the time, but at other times it's really bad, like now funnily enough that my attention has been drawn to it.

 

Trying to hear whats being said on TV progs at night is the worst, and its not easy following conversations in a group..

Finding it very difficult hearing where there are several people in a conversation,Peter,lip reading does help,advised a Dr.of this when he kept talking to the floor,to make it worse he was of Eastern origin,walked out in the end.

Maintenance engineer for twenty + years British Steel Archie,the the same at a local cheese producing Dairy,the noise there was unbelievable in some departments.TV IB,usually gets knocked off,unless there's something special on,I know realise why my old man used to say why does everyone talk at once.

Lindsay ask your Doc for Avamys nasal spray suspension it worked for me,it's worth a try mate.

I have it mildly by all accounts, but it is amazing just how many suffer from its effects.

45+ years in engineering maintenance and my hearing is well

at my last test 2008 38% left ear 46% right ear

Without subtitles on tv I should not be paying a licence

Waiting for God rings a bell
