geordie1234 Posted May 19, 2014 Report Posted May 19, 2014 Talking to a fancier tonight who has a doo reported in oldham....
Big Davie Posted May 19, 2014 Report Posted May 19, 2014 Hadn't at any time based the figures on my own returns, its based on the guys that have got 73/80, 53/58, 56/66, 43/60, 39/43, 21/24, 23/28, 36/44 and like i have already said in my last post there are a few fanciers that have unfortunately not reached the 50%.Gareth I've also been talking to a number of guys and IMO you're getting this wrong , I.E. A few have got decent returns including yourself, Delboy, and some others that I know of or have spoken too but , again IMO not a few but many, many, lofts are at approx 50% home or less and I will give you a few examples from well established lofts with guys who have a fair idea what they are doing and have been in the doo game most of their lives with a fair amount of success right out to France, these were the figures last night.20/60, 30/71, 12/29, 17/35,11/21, 18/35, I will not name them here but can assure you these are accurate and I have also heard of worse returns than those I have quoted, and my own returns with the biggest team out where I hoped the race would set me up for the season, 68 / 134 just over half home with 66 missing the vast majority of which are yearlings, I am not having a dig at anyone here because I don't think blame can be levelled at anyone, however again in my IMO the returns from this race are far worse than what you are making out. Talking to a fancier tonight who has a doo reported in oldham....I also have one reported in Wolverhampton Just

I also have one reported in WolverhamptonBased my figures on coversations I had with 12 club secretarys yesterday when arranging pick up times for the coming races, though can't argue with your figures. I can only hope that your wrong. Sorry to hear your losses are so bad.Had my first one back today since Saturday, still 9 short myself, though I have had one reported in Blackburn, club mate has one reported in Wales, have heard of others reported in Doncaster and Workington.
Delboy Posted May 19, 2014 Report Posted May 19, 2014 Can I say something about the numerous folk blaming the losses on yearlings etc. not being experienced enough. The whole of my team were yearlings, lightly raced 2 year olds latebreds or latebreds and my returns were 39/43.
Guest stb- Posted May 19, 2014 Report Posted May 19, 2014 . .part of the blame billy and dosent help also birds not quite up to the task in hand aswell i would say especially on a sticky day m8
Delboy Posted May 19, 2014 Report Posted May 19, 2014 Exactly Billy, Percy rules, guys with good returns have just been *expletive removed* lucky imo.
Guest stb- Posted May 19, 2014 Report Posted May 19, 2014 Exactly Billy, Percy rules, guys with good returns have just been *expletive removed* lucky imo.a think a lot has to be said if you have your doos in the batch that gets chased and head of in the right direction and not the opposite way but you knowe yourself the doos need to be up for it to return after a strike or 20 on route if not they wont make on home
William Reid Posted May 19, 2014 Report Posted May 19, 2014 part of the blame billy and dosent help also birds not quite up to the task in hand aswell i would say especially on a sticky day m8expletive remove Rab 170mls for a homing pigeon is .*expletive removed* all . As you fine well know guys would be sending birds to this race as a training toss .

As you fine well know guys would be sending birds to this race as a training toss . thats all right billy if they only fly 170 miles m8 but if threy get chased a 170 in the opposite direction first thats 340 to cover not a lot would be up for that yous have hardly been over a 100 miles mind
Delboy Posted May 19, 2014 Report Posted May 19, 2014 I got a latebred on Sunday, he mustve flown 500 miles, not an ounce on the poor wee .*expletive removed*.Perfect for Buckingham lol
mill house Posted May 19, 2014 Report Posted May 19, 2014 part of the blame billy and dosent help also birds not quite up to the task in hand aswell i would say especially on a sticky day m8a sticky day the birds were up in a s/w wind the leading birds doing 1500 plus even half fit birds should get home in days like that .the hawks are the major problem causing carnage
Guest stb- Posted May 19, 2014 Report Posted May 19, 2014 a sticky day the birds were up in a s/w wind the leading birds doing 1500 plus even half fit birds should get home in days like that .the hawks are the major problem causing carnageaye yer right if they go in the right direction but if they get hunted south no so easy m8
Delboy Posted May 19, 2014 Report Posted May 19, 2014 aye yer right if they go in the right direction but if they get hunted south no so easy m8 I think yer right Rab, probably the mega fit birds had a better chance in getting home.
Big Davie Posted May 19, 2014 Report Posted May 19, 2014 part of the blame billy and dosent help also birds not quite up to the task in hand aswell i would say especially on a sticky day m8Rab, that's one of the main points, it wasn't a sticky day and should have been a skoosh case at that distance with fair weather and a S/W wind, I have five home from Middleton with BOP injuries, I know another guy with four, mirror that across all the lofts in the Fed and have a guess at the amount of strikes the convoy could have taken, I know the bassas are everywhere but for me it's the common denominator.

William Reid Posted May 19, 2014 Report Posted May 19, 2014 Post #109 Rab .Any healthy homing pigeon will return from this short distance IMO Rab . Maybe if the weather is bad would take it a few hours longer . But add B.O.P. To the equation and it's fcking mayhem have seen it myself . Because at one time I used to train a lot of local pigeons .
