walterboswell59 Posted May 9, 2014 Report Posted May 9, 2014 race controllers have to take the forcast into consideration of course but still think you cant beat phoneing down the line of flight if pigeons get a good good start they will over come most weather with the exception of fog or mist where they cant see the line of flight or have to go to far to get round it or just cant get through it and have to go down to rest after flying up and down all day trying to find a way through jmo

frankdooman Posted May 9, 2014 Report Posted May 9, 2014 Walter I applaud any fed that try,s to consider the birds being in the basket any more than needed that's what many are doing this week end and some say the weather men never get it right but it's my opinion they get it right about 98% of the time the one hard part is if the the wind picks up or changes the time will be out and and many of us fanciers even thow wee think wee know better can't see that just sometime even the weather men aren't sure look at the winds for this w/e they can't tell if it's east or west

VMS Posted May 9, 2014 Report Posted May 9, 2014 Can the drivers sit to monday there other jobs might prevent this
walterboswell59 Posted May 9, 2014 Report Posted May 9, 2014 maybe john quinn or gareth could tell us how long they will hold them before they are brought home or back up the road a bit dont know what the rules are on this and as i say could make a big difference in the birdage
JohnQuinn Posted May 9, 2014 Author Report Posted May 9, 2014 If the forecast is as bad as thought will they hold till Monday or later or bring them home ???? I believe Davy has the option to delay basketing a further 24hrs until Sunday if required Wullie.

Guest Gareth Rankin Posted May 9, 2014 Report Posted May 9, 2014 Can the drivers sit to monday there other jobs might prevent thisWe are fortunate to have convoyer drivers that have a great deal of flexibility, Monday is the latest that the federation will look to have a race from Ingleton.
Novice Posted May 9, 2014 Report Posted May 9, 2014 Ayrshire also postponed but Sunday is not a great option either at the moment.
