Due to the article of Brasspening in the BHW magazine regarding illegal substances being used in Belgium ,Holland etc how much of these substances are coming to this country via bus trips and organised tours ,and after reading another article on our site regards cayenne pepper it actualy i am told holds a pain killing property is this a drug !!? what do others think .No disrespect to the member who asked the question regarding cayenne pepper.

the races in Holland are different from here, they have races on the same day birds are split into 2 races that would help a pigeon given a drug that is getting libbed at say 10 in the morning from a 8am basket, but cant see it help the next day birds that are to go to the further away race. for a next day lib. the reason i say this is most drugs that we take are given at a rate of 3 tabs taken 3 times a day or 4 times a day.

I believe a certain percentage of fanciers will try "new products" they have discovered whilst visiting other countries .wether they are illegal or not I bet wouldn't be there first question . if they think it can help them win ,then I bet most would want it . the union laws are so vague too , I mean who actually knows what is illegal ??

erratic controlling, clashing, raptors... all very common in todays racing, puts your drug theory right out the window!

What i mean is the likes of steroids in one form or another could be used to put on muscle prior to a race not that I am saying they are ,I just think if the use of drugs are common place on the Belgium dutch etc scene then somebody will or has used them here.

here is my opinion I think the pigeons we are currently raceing are as good as we have had and they are doing very well , if enyone in our fed is doping their birds it don't work as ours are as clean as you can get that I know for a fact!! and they have not been shown up, we have 100+ members in our fed so I think they are all clean so there isn't a wide spread problem as some think in the uk.

IMO... when fanciers start flying out there skins because they get out there bed at the crack of dawn and work there pigeons, they are then knocked down and blamed for cheating in some form, doping seems to be the common 'sticks n stones' excuse!

We should do the same, randomly collect samples from a race basket after pigeons have been liberated and get them tested. The conta argument to this though is if the results come back positive they'll be a lot of finger pointing going on.

pigeon sport is like greyhound racing, there are no drivers, but greyhounds can be given a jag just before its race, pigeon racing is not classed as a "Sport" if the offender is caught he would get let off. on a technicality, we would then find out gambling rules would be brought in to question, gains made by doping all sorts, but until we get sports classified, we will not be able to keep taking offender to court. and no pigeon guys are going to like a Levey of £100 min placed on them to take people to court all the time.

if we want to go down this road we need to have a written constitution and agreement signed by ever fancier, that if found guilty he can not take the union to court but will be eligible to pay the union a fine of £5,000 but will be allowed a second check done on his birds droppings, from a second source fail that, then another £1,000 added to his debt a debt that will stay with him and his wins struck of the register.

JOHNSEE I am of the same opinion as you there are as much different potions now a days ,who knows what is in them the way things are with losses and different sickness maybe the birds are being dosed with health damageing chemicals and fanciers dont know it already.

all pain killers, are banned aspirin and the likes

all cough mixtures, all caffeine, penicillin. and steroids. all creams with soothing pain relief

 

Your attempt to tell me what is a banned substance is pathetic to say the least.......tell me please,where did you find this list or do you just make this up as you go along ? Hi,In a perfect world this problem with the missuse of certain substances would not arise,but this is not a perfect world.I have only returned to this hobby after a break of 20 years,christ I did not believe that the problem with b.o.p. untill I experienced it over and over with my own small team,if any substance is to be banned then every fancier must be informed,they would then have to sign a decleration stating their birds were clear of such substances along with their entry sheet for a race,after the race the top number of birds would have to be tested, any bird found with banned substance in its blood the fancier to be banned for life........Thats only the start,the member in question would have a right of appeal and this is where it gets difficult the fancier would only have to insist that the bird in question must have been contaminated after being in a basket over a period of time with other birds and consumed something that perhaps another bird had brought up....(just like y/birds not sick when you sent it to a race yet suffering when they arrive home)or perhaps stopped for a drink on the way home....it would be to costly and too difficult to prove,I dont believe that it is widespread but there again I did not believe that b.o.p. was widespread,on that note I believe most fanciers have given up fighting the B.O.P.and now keep their birds in the the loft all winter.....best regards....JBC/..

Try them in some form or another .Keep this in mind drugs don't make poor pigeons any

Better ,the harder you work at your birds the better your results will be if you have good

the tbo partnership gave a lot of hints about where to find the imformation in there dvd from about 10years ago there is a banned substance list printed in the british homing world under rules and regulations but cant remember which issue its usually early spring when the rules of the rpra are issued don't know if this covers the shu generally if its performance enhancing and banned you are breaking the rules and cheating if its performance enhancing and not on the banned list you are free to use it but in my eyes its wrong bert braspenning admits to using cortisone in eyedrops I wonder if he informed dear old louie masserella before he sold him defelle and the rest of his superstars!!!!!! I hate cheats do I forgive him yes I do it just makes me think who else is unwittingly doping to make millions from selling birds im sick of being told superstar this superstar that what a load of crap its all turned out to be cheats is the word I forgive bert but hes still a cheat and it aint libellous cause he admitted it if you have a doubt about someone using eye drops a lot of the stuff they use has I dye in it that illuminates it helps the doc or vet notice foreign bodies in the eye if you use ultra violet light when the birds are basketed take the forge note checker from behind the bar where your club house is ask don't just take it lol darken the birds switch the lights off and plug in the forge note checker and check the baskets any with a glowing eye are in the process of being unwittingly medicated!!!!!! and you can catch the cheats who use the eye drops !!!!
