lenton1163 Posted November 18, 2013 Author Report Posted November 18, 2013 just about to do the same, 24ft to but undecided on the roof type johntiled mate all the way sick of felting i have also had sliders in roof for the ventilation and darkness
OF ONE SKIN Posted November 18, 2013 Report Posted November 18, 2013 Me too, going for a 24x8 pent roof from ecco lofts. Treating it with sadolin when it comes.
peter pandy Posted November 18, 2013 Report Posted November 18, 2013 I had a new loft built almost 3 years ago and treated it with 3 coats Ronseal exterior solvent based stainer but unfortunately during the first summer the weather board planks shrunk to the affect that they almost separated leaving untreated wood showing. With that in mind I would not treat with any type of varnish. I have since gave it a further coat but noticed at the door where I have a paving slab as a step rain splashes have removed the stainer from the door. With that in mind I cannot recommend Ronseal at £30 for 5 Ltr's.
yeboah Posted November 18, 2013 Report Posted November 18, 2013 tiled mate all the way sick of felting i have also had sliders in roof for the ventilation and darknessI have a tiled roof but fitted a ceiling throughout as it was a nightmare with temperature change and draughts ,As for felted roofs they should never be nailed ,If applied properly using cold tar and a heavy duty green mineral felt it will last for 25 + years Atb mick
