tiger Posted October 16, 2013 Report Posted October 16, 2013 mines is over the water just to watch them drop on bowl what a thrill ,
Wiley Posted October 16, 2013 Report Posted October 16, 2013 For me it's two races, Both with the London North Road Combine. The first being Old Bird Berwick and whatever race point they choose for young bird combine. These are my favourites as I feel you compete against everyone's best.
hotrod Posted October 16, 2013 Report Posted October 16, 2013 mines is over the water just to watch them drop on bowl what a thrill ,[/ ,,there's nothing like timing birds from these races John .but I do like from Newark out , 250 miles to me , it gives me an idea on their well being , if I'm nowhere near winners then something not right .
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted October 16, 2013 Report Posted October 16, 2013 Enjoy whatever the next race is, though the memorys are always of the races from France 500 + miles.
Guest Owen Posted October 16, 2013 Report Posted October 16, 2013 I like the races when I have a group of birds drop together.
blaz Posted October 16, 2013 Report Posted October 16, 2013 the races we have over 200 miles.as i normaly do well at them and make up time lost at the shorter races.
peter pandy Posted October 16, 2013 Report Posted October 16, 2013 The races where I have competed with a single entry and been well in.
JohnQuinn Posted October 16, 2013 Report Posted October 16, 2013 My fav is the Fed Yearling open as its the first race I target every year to have a wee punt in. For SNFC it is Ypres for obvious reasons.
Delboy Posted October 16, 2013 Report Posted October 16, 2013 Got to be the channel races especially the SNFC Gold cup,imo the holy grail of Scottish pigeon racing. I like the other nationals as well but the distance races are more memorable imo.
ForestForever74 Posted October 16, 2013 Report Posted October 16, 2013 I have yet to find my favourite race but I look forward to sending to the channel races next year.

Rooster J. Cogburn Posted October 16, 2013 Report Posted October 16, 2013 For me it's the SNFC Gold Cup race. The interest in the race probably stems from Wee Billy that used to watch the doos wi us on a Saturday, years down the line he still talked about the time he clocked his good blue cock out of Rennes. There's room for every body at the race and as Wee Billy used to say to me and my dad "if yer on the Rennes result, yer flying". I remember Robert Cormack telling me, that one day when he was in his class at the school he drew a line on an atlas from Linlithgow to Rennes because it was the place he had heard talked about most when he was growing up My dad and I never got the chance to fly Rennes, but have flown the SNFC Gold Cup in the seasons 2003,2004,2005,2011,2012 and 2013. From this handful of times we've sent, I've noticed that it's either the biggest thrill or the biggest disappointment of your year in pigeons The birdages may be smaller and the racepoint may have changed, but the distance hasn't
