Guest Owen Posted August 21, 2013 Report Posted August 21, 2013 The Whited Sea Eagle is another one of those bright ideas of the RSPB. It does not matter to them that these monsters will take live lambs and anything alive up to that size. According to the so called experts of the RSPB these birds were once a part of British Bird Life. The interesting thing to me is that they will not accept the Eagle Owl and actively pursue it in spite of the fact that they live wild in Britain. I wonder if it is anything to do with the fact that the Eagle Owl will hunt and kill Birds of Prey. Crazy!!

ghostrider Posted August 21, 2013 Report Posted August 21, 2013 Ronnie some of the birds I handled today when I was down at yours. I swear they had a little bit of owl in them And what about the perigrine falcon.he was not indigenous to these shores. They were brought over by either the romans or normans.and yet the eagle owl was always here.
soupie Posted August 21, 2013 Report Posted August 21, 2013 from RSPB site "It would be very unfortunate to discover in 20 years' time that eagle owls were devastating native birds, by which time it would be very difficult to do anything about it. We therefore believe that Government should, in partnership with conservation organisations, monitor the behaviour and diet of eagle owls, and establish the true size of the wild population. The RSPB does not support a cull of eagle owls in the UK. If intervention is deemed necessary as a result of further monitoring, non-lethal approaches, such as taking birds into captivity, should be attempted first. It is important that, in the short term, Government takes steps to significantly reduce the numbers of eagle owls escaping (or being released) from captivity. Without this, establishment of a feral population of eagle owls is much more likely." soupie

R.A.M.C.63 Posted August 21, 2013 Report Posted August 21, 2013 there is a debate whether the eagle owl was native to this country obviously the rspb said it wasn,t i thout Answer wiz in Name, EUROPEAN EAGLE OWL :emoticon-0138-thinking:
Guest Owen Posted August 22, 2013 Report Posted August 22, 2013 R.A.M.C.63The fact that this bird has a Man Made Name is not the issue. The issue is where the bird lives when it is not interfered with. We know that the RSPB do all they can to keep these birds out of Britain and there is evidence that they actively cull these birds. This is only possible because the Owls are easy to spot and they are in very small numbers. The RSPB often go on about the Balance of Nature and they argue that providing that a species is left alone it will reach it's correct balance with it's environment and it's predators. If the situation with the Eagle Owl were to be left to Nature they would quickly rebalance the numbers of Birds of Prey. The real reason is that when the rabbits died off from mixi in Norway Eagle Owls turned on Buzzards and Peregrines. That sort of thing could happen here at least on a regional basis. Then there would be much wailing and gnashing of teeth by the BOP lobby.
R.A.M.C.63 Posted August 22, 2013 Report Posted August 22, 2013 Totally Agree we you Owen, wonder if RSPB had a say in name, getting back to Name, makes u wonder why they didn,t call it a African Sea Eagle :emoticon-0138-thinking:
