looks like lanarkshire are in trouble next week they might no have enough baskets

the way i see it the lanarkshire took 17,400 rings this year, they send just under 5,700 birds to the first race this leaves us with 11,700 birds trying to get into trailers that hold about 6,300 birds so we have a over spill now of 5,400 and not counting the ones we sent the first week, and just to add the lanarkshire are good for another 3000 plain rings

there is no bother it just stops fanciers from being late at marking, i could be wrong and there are loads of birds missing, but no one admits that so, i have to go with the records i have. mind dont be late they might run out of room

maybe a lot of the rings are for later bred birds being kept for stock and maybe some folk never use all the rings,plenty reasons why all the rings will not be on birds racing this year and I am quite sure they will not run out of room

Best estimate Danny is only about 1/3 of the rings issued are ever raced, if all were raced there aint a Fed in Scotland that would have enough room so time for you to Sit Doon and stop scaremongering

not sure about the capacity but there were 5650 at the first otterburn , i know a few who went canny with the first race and will prob send bigger teams this week and like most feds the birdage at 2nd race can be a lot higher maby bigda might have a point :emoticon-0167-beer:

yes you are correct stb the birdage was 5,545 not sure how many crates we have

but i am sure there aint much more room than 6,200 and if we loosed, as no one will admit it say 2000 from last week then there are 15,000 birds looking for a race and as you know the lanarkshire gets extra plain rings about 3,000 of them to add

remember to go to your club early first in gets there birds away

ONCE AGAIN IMO, lanarkshire loose loads of birds, no one will admit how many they have lost, but it looks like there are maybe now 5,000 less than the ring issue of 17,400

NOT SURE, WOULD BE ABOUT THE SAME AS LAST WEEK 5,000 ODD birds are just not there anymore we used to take 24,000 rings at one time and fly 10,000 birds

6300 birds, reckon like myself , weather permitting, when they change route from east to west this week , ( Otterburn to Appelby ) their could be quite a few guys waiting to send for the first time, time will tell.
