It's good there are options available,but I'm not entirely sure the above mentioned transport in the offer could cope with the birdage from Basingstoke,Maidstone and Leicester so although on the face of it may be the cheaper it in fact may not be lol

 

Anywhoo there is a capable commitee in place and I'm sure they will do whats best by the club and most importantly the pigeons

A hard race is a hard race , going on supposed better transport won't make the slightest bit of difference. As I've already posted once or twice I've noticed some of my birds have returned with their feet caked in sh_t and none of them a hold over , but that's in prob 6/7 years of racing , but it can happen ,it didn't when we used some easy bed. In the crates

We've used the Gerald'y crates for years now ,prob the first in Scotland to get them ,us glasgow and southl anarkshire , and yes they are brilliant well designed transporters yes they have air con , easy to keep clean , but comfort for pigeons , cardboard against. Deep shavings , I know what I would like to sleep in, but the condition of the birds returning from racing from Gerald'y transport is second to none , prob because they can see and get to the water easily. Plus remember the convoyers must do the job right .

This is going like the ETS battery debacle and look what happened there,. I think admin needs to keep closer tabs on thread like this. I take your point. But I suspect there is some winding-up going on here (hence the smilies in the posts). The Committee did not have the information from which it could make financial analyses of the type posted.

I personally took every pigeon out of the Aluminium Almond valley crates at Larkhall marking station, this when the Lanarkshire race was cancelled from Carantan, now considering they had been in the transporter for 6-7 days, the pigeons were in good condition. No feet caked in corrugated paper as has been reported by one or two.

never heard of that in our fed and it certainly wasnt me some of these posts are really unbelievable state who it was that did this or dont mention it no place for hearsay

For fed races with 1-2 days in the baskets, then it really is optional as i have heard from different feds that use easibed and some that dont, end result is good for both.

For races where there is a possibility that pigeons could be in the crates for up to 7 days, then for me easibed should be added to the crates.

 

Easibed is better than shavings as shavings are easily scattered by pigeons, easibed on the other hand is less likely to be scattered and has a lower dust content than shavings. jmo.

agree with you there m8 easibed much better at convoyers discretion problem is if he has not got it he cant use it so lets be prepared for it

if the snfc decide to ask the lanarkshire fed for the use of there transport first of all they would have to agree they take them for all 7 races at a cost of about 3,200 per race as that would be for truck hire fuel and driver but if they only want the lanarkshire for a few races then it would be £4,200 FOR EACH RACE and i feel this is a fair price to expect to pay when the birdage can be as much as 6,000 birds at a cost of £3 per bird min giving the nat a profit of well over 18,000 less transport cost £3,200 = £14,800 on there race,

working out at £16 per basket per to £20 per basket
