walterboswell59 Posted March 17, 2013 Report Posted March 17, 2013 Does the almond valley no take doos across the water in geraldys? DWickers baskets are ancient history Who took lanarkshires doos to carentan last uear but brought back? Doos were imaculateyoure dead right there young george i could not believe the condition the birds were in after such a long time in the basket and the convoyer was 1st class must agree with big del snfc must chose the best for us and the best is geraldy there is not enough room for birds to get water in a wicker basket for my likeing lets try it then judge the sport must move on
William Reid Posted March 17, 2013 Report Posted March 17, 2013 Don't under stand all the sht on this post when pigeons go in to a basket good they come out good .if you send a sht doo to a race then it will always be sht no matter what .I.M.O.
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted March 17, 2013 Report Posted March 17, 2013 Another point of interest Lanarkshire are out priced with their offer to the SNFC this year for a loan of their new transporters by just over £70 per race.It is from a wicker organisation We will see what the commitee decideWasn't aware that you are now on the committee of the SNFC Why the giggles Lewis. In my eyes its fantastic news that another new organisation has come to the fore and beat Lanarkshire's excellent tender price for supplying modern transportation. Last years Haulage cost of £21000 was outrageous, so if the sums have been done correct by the committee on a like for like basis, especially on the combinations of vehicles and running costs that Lanarkshire can provide, then the SNFC will be saving many many thousands of pounds, this is fantastic news for myself and the membership of the National.

We will see what decision is made.I'm like you guys and would like to see what is best for the club. The cheapest option may not necessarily be the best
Rooster J. Cogburn Posted March 17, 2013 Report Posted March 17, 2013 It's good there are options available, but I'm not entirely sure the above mentioned transport in the offer could cope with the birdage from Basingstoke,Maidstone and Leicester so although on the face of it may be the cheaper it in fact may not be lol Anywhoo there is a capable commitee in place and I'm sure they will do whats best by the club and most importantly the pigeons I apoligise in advance if I have misinterpreted the situation
Delboy Posted March 17, 2013 Author Report Posted March 17, 2013 I think youll be right enough Lewis, I mean you know the tenders put in by different feds.

This one isn't from a fed lol.Its an independant maverick I maybe just heard what I wanted to hear as I'm not convinced by the Geraldy. Will send though if it's viewed as the most suitable by the commitee
tiger Posted March 17, 2013 Report Posted March 17, 2013 its not down 2 the motors its down the convoyer & race controllers they can make or break the race FACT both have plus facts , we in av fed have had some hard races FACT
hotrod Posted March 17, 2013 Report Posted March 17, 2013 its not down 2 the motors its down the convoyer & race controllers they can make or break the race FACT both have plus facts , we in av fed have had some hard races FACT A hard race is a hard race , going on supposed better transport won't make the slightest bit of difference. As I've already posted once or twice I've noticed some of my birds have returned with their feet caked in sh_t and none of them a hold over , but that's in prob 6/7 years of racing , but it can happen ,it didn't when we used some easy bed. In the crates

In the crates I didn't want to clog up the thread, so I have reposted excerts from a Study of Racing pigeon Transport which gave rise to the modern day transporter design. From that you will see that the conditions on the transporter and in the basket have a major impact on the outcome of the race. http://forum.pigeonbasics.org/topic/64925-transportation-of-racing-pigeons/

Deep shavings , I know what I would like to sleep in, but the condition of the birds returning from racing from Gerald'y transport is second to none , prob because they can see and get to the water easily. Plus remember the convoyers must do the job right .
JADE Posted March 17, 2013 Report Posted March 17, 2013 Don't think it is helpful to have posts about tenders, prices etc when nothing has been decided. In the business world any discussion like that is illegal prior to the contract being awarded. This is going like the ETS battery debacle and look what happened there,. I think admin needs to keep closer tabs on thread like this. By all means have an opinion but certain points must remain confidential.

But I suspect there is some winding-up going on here (hence the smilies in the posts). The Committee did not have the information from which it could make financial analyses of the type posted.

No feet caked in corrugated paper as has been reported by one or two.

walterboswell59 Posted March 17, 2013 Report Posted March 17, 2013 your right gareth but i had been told that in one race with the cardboard used the convoyer went and bought shavings and added it to the baskets because of the state of the cardboard whitch is an option and very good convoying imo dont you think m8 a bale of shavings could be carried with us to be added if convoyer thinks its needed if birds are going to be held for days or do we intend to use both what do you think m8

Best of luck with your 2013 campaign and I hope yees win the Percy Cameron trophy
knoxjn Posted March 17, 2013 Report Posted March 17, 2013 never heard of that in our fed and it certainly wasnt me some of these posts are really unbelievable state who it was that did this or dont mention it no place for hearsay

Easibed is better than shavings as shavings are easily scattered by pigeons, easibed on the other hand is less likely to be scattered and has a lower dust content than shavings. jmo.

Guest bigda Posted March 17, 2013 Report Posted March 17, 2013 if the snfc decide to ask the lanarkshire fed for the use of there transport first of all they would have to agree they take them for all 7 races at a cost of about 3,200 per race as that would be for truck hire fuel and driver but if they only want the lanarkshire for a few races then it would be £4,200 FOR EACH RACE and i feel this is a fair price to expect to pay when the birdage can be as much as 6,000 birds at a cost of £3 per bird min giving the nat a profit of well over 18,000 less transport cost £3,200 = £14,800 on there race, working out at £16 per basket per to £20 per basket
