Delboy Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 I have my doubts about the success of the bull system, does anyone know of the offspring of bull cocks racing well? Looking for some views from guys that have tried or know someone who has tried the system.

hawked again Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 I think it was Owen that posted a link from another site. Birds were to be paired through the wires then on the fifth day the paired cocks were locked in another section. The bull cock was then left with the caged hens for 15 minutes then one of the hens was to be set free. Cock does the business then is taken away for 30 minutes rest, then start again with another hen being set free. The first hen was caged again of course. The guy on the link reckoned he could do 11 hens and all the eggs would be good. He said that the cock would be able to keep this up till the eggs were laid. The paired through the wires cocks then sit the eggs as normal. I have tried it this year with my race hens and my 3 best cocks, I don't think I have had much success. First 2 eggs are hatching just now though.
hawked again Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 Here is the link, Oldyellow posted it not Owen. http://www.pigeonnetwork.com/articles/NigelCowood.html

Guest geordiejen Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 dont know for racing mate but i use it for breeding the show birds.seemingly the cock bird is the one who gives bone structure mustle and colour.some and most show guys dont give a darn hoot what the hen looks like.this may be true for the racing, although you need to remember all the young will be related as they all have the same father.it all goes back to saying there is no full proof method unless you are breeding for colour genetics.
billt Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 I Think the whole point here is if you have a cock that is producing the goods then you pair him to multi hens and increase your chances, like most things in breeding, it's not rocket science

I remember the late Bobby Carruthers applied the bull system to all the best pigeons in the area, it was a complete flop and he said he would never do it again as the ybs werent up to scratch.

billt Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 I've never used the system myself but then I've only ever raced natural and when I look back over my results if it wasn't for hens I would have won beggar all
andy Burgess Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 I've never used the system myself but then I've only ever raced natural and when I look back over my results if it wasn't for hens I would have won beggar all http://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gifme neither Bill , but it is something i am seriously interested in . i have in the past as a novice raced 2 young hens on 2 occasions having won many prizes , despite the majority sending 30 plus and not winning , so i know you can do things most wouldnt think was right or normal. this is just another "trate" ive just not tried and tested ??
