Guest Owen Posted October 22, 2012 Report Posted October 22, 2012 Delboygood post. I think that the practical side of this is that we need to supply grit fresh every day. I actually supply mixed grit, crumbled clay block and vitamineral every day. I was surprised to be told by a prominent Avian Vet that many pigeons have what he called bendy bones. Rickets. I suspect that there are pigeons with a subclinical condition which must reduce their physical condition and spoil their ability to win races. Also bearing in mind that pigeons need both vitamin D and calcium to grow feathers I reckon that both grit and sunshine are essential for them to enjoy a healthy moult.
