hibby Posted October 10, 2012 Report Posted October 10, 2012 Hi there lads and lasses first post and I have a feeling it's a long shot! Looking for some one with boizard family pigeons for sale. I know there an old breed and after days of research Im starting to think maybe this once great family have died out looking for some to cross into other long distance families but all I can find Is the history of the family on louella, they don't seem to keep them any more or anyone else for that matter. So does anyone have or know of anyone else with these birds still? I seem to remember the ones I seen 10 yr ago were silver/mealy barless birds and looked amazing but also flew great aswell . Regards Hibb
Rooster J. Cogburn Posted October 10, 2012 Report Posted October 10, 2012 one of the best pigeons to ever race from Barcelona
andy Burgess Posted October 10, 2012 Report Posted October 10, 2012 great first post "Hibby" ,good luck in your search .
sammy Posted October 10, 2012 Report Posted October 10, 2012 try WALTER MASSON on here or someone from the north they had a lot of them pigeons back 70/80s not sure if they still have them but worth a shot
Rooster J. Cogburn Posted October 10, 2012 Report Posted October 10, 2012 I'm sure Walter handled Louvre Not 100% but he will post when hes on I'd imagine
Delboy Posted October 10, 2012 Report Posted October 10, 2012 one of the best pigeons to ever race from Barcelona A topper of a doo, reminds me of some of the Scottish doos in the 70s.
lanarkshire lad Posted October 10, 2012 Report Posted October 10, 2012 An X club member of mine bought a good few from louella Mealies with black splashes, oh they looked the part but it ended there. They were the biggest load of dumplings he ever bought in his life. Is it not better to look at an up to date winning family for a cross????
gordi.b Posted October 10, 2012 Report Posted October 10, 2012 I had these which i bought from louella many years ago along with some of the old dordins, they didn,t last to long tho , maybe it was me , th dordins were far better lookiing birds.
walterbmasson Posted October 10, 2012 Report Posted October 10, 2012 I'm sure Walter handled Louvre Not 100% but he will post when hes on I'd imagine I did handle louvre11 in 1974 she was a small ta medium hen with the softest mussel it just hung from her the kind that would keep going when the going got really tought i tried to buy a daughter direct off her but michael masseralla said he could not sell one at that time so i bought 2 grand sons ?? But the best breeding bird that came north out of the boizards family was the ritchie & whyte frenchman which left an abundance of 5 & 6 & 700 mile winnersin the snfc there was a lot of biozards in 5 0 clock rock ? I never saw any barless blues or mealies in the boizards they were the complete opposite well marked bars and black splashed we had , once you handle a bird that won 1st 4th 7th 9th national 600+ miles its engraved in your mind for the rest of your life A CRACKING PIGEON , bob whyte and george ritchie handled her that visit ?
hibby Posted October 10, 2012 Author Report Posted October 10, 2012 Thanks for the quick replies! what it is the lad i fly with (ive been away from sport for 10 yrs) has been trying to track some down but having no luck and he hasn't tried internet as he is an older bloke and not to up to date with all the technology. Any how like i said when i flew with him 10 plus years ago he did very well out the channel with these birds and i think in general he has a soft spot for them so im doing my best to track some down (say thank you for taking me under his wing again. his Boizards were from louella also but he put across into them (kirkpatrick, as louella are known for inbreeding to the wick) and they came good. but the hardest part at the mo is just trying to find any. such a shame to think the way the sport is going how many of the great families will fall by the way side. thanks again everyone Hibb
hibby Posted October 10, 2012 Author Report Posted October 10, 2012 im wondering if im getting the barless mixed up. They may have been wildermeesch (spelling)and it may have been the blue and white cocks which were boizard was only 15 yr old at the time and im struggling to remember. All i do know hes been trying and trying to track some boizards down.
W.D. Posted October 10, 2012 Report Posted October 10, 2012 Seem to remember a guy from Carnwath flew the Boizards in the early 80s with a lot of good results, one good hen topped the west section twice if I'm correct? The guy sold up not long after, did Jim Hannah not buy it and bred some good birds too?Anyone able to help further?
hibby Posted October 14, 2012 Author Report Posted October 14, 2012 Does Jim Hannah still fly? Seems like these birds no longer exist hunted Internet high and low and everything leads to louella who no longer stock them
Rooster J. Cogburn Posted October 14, 2012 Report Posted October 14, 2012 Does Jim Hannah still fly? Seems like these birds no longer exist hunted Internet high and low and everything leads to louella who no longer stock them Yes Jim Hannah still flies and scored well in the national this year.Again like you I don't think much of its through the Biozard stuff. Like all these old families it will be difficult to get it in the recognisable form you are after, but many fanciers today will have it through their lofts of winning birds-just not "pure". A topper of a doo, reminds me of some of the Scottish doos in the 70s. anything in particular Derek?
walterbmasson Posted October 14, 2012 Report Posted October 14, 2012 Does Jim Hannah still fly? Seems like these birds no longer exist hunted Internet high and low and everything leads to louella who no longer stock them Hibby theres a lot of the boizards family of birds in the north of scotland in fact there was 2 clearence sales a few years back, bob whyte of ritchie and whyte, and george ritchie which i know the rene boizards were in every pedigree,? Every strain of birds over the years the blood is there as long as the birds are still putting up good performances you ,dont clear them oot, just keep inbreeding and keep the line going with a cross or too and its the crosses you have got ta thrash out ta see if there going ta be a success at the distance you want, as for the boizards there an all round family that will win at distances of 200 miles ta 500 miles on the round about but for the 600+miles better paired up on eggs or youngster ? I sent 47 birds ta the feds longest race 483 miles in the last 4 years and clocked 33 day birds positions in club 1st 2nd 2nd 2nd 3rd 3rd 3rd 4th 4th 5th 6th 6th only in first six, fed 1st 4th 5th 6th 7th 9th 11th 14th 21st 24th also taking sec 3rd 7th 11th 12th & open 118th 187th 205th in last 4 years in snfc and they are never trained just jumped into 200miles ta 250 miles and never more than 28 racers wintered ,and they must fly 500miles or 600 miles to earn its perch if this was carried out in every loft there wouldnt be this massive losses ?
