THE FIFER Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 I think this thread has went as far as its going regarding the topic it was opened for so will move it over to chit-chat
Guest numpty01 Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 i think one of the things you have to watch ??never mind the true names is the click because if you dont fit the posters views or his ways then youer in trouble there are a few here that present theirselfs as better than others but would never put their real names up as thats not the way they work hide and condem its easier ??now if it was my site quite a few would be gone ?you can give the facts as long as they are true but some only beleave what they think is true dispite their name hidden or not they will insult belittle or complain because you dont agree then they make you the monster ;D ;D ;Dso name on com means nothing so really its waste of time you still could be anyone :-/ :-/ :-/ :-/
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 lighten up young fellow i think u take the pigeon sport and the pigeon basics far too serious .Do u think everybody should agree with everything u say.Theres nout wrong witha bit of controversay or a bit of kidding or a wee wind up now and again yous lsc members r very very serious people indeed .If ur not happy with the site go somewhere else. Not going any were Slinky as i am happy as Larry ( : : ::)that could be my new username) :P were i could post critical / abusive comments that you do and get away with, but no i wont as i am not a coward. All for a wind up and a laugh on this great site but there a few that push the boundaries with over the top abusive, critical and controversial comments which for me have no space on this site and if asked to declare your name becuase of this you should or be suspended from the site. PS can you tell us were your Username comes from 8) ;D Thanks for your comment "Young Fellow" now i know i must be ageing well and looking youthful 8) 8) 8)

You have saddled both horses to a T. So as you say, doesn't really matter a jot if it's their real name or user, it is as you say, and I said in my first post, it is the content of the posts that matter... the others / or whatever good or bad or indiffeent posters will be and do as they are, and will carry on as such. The only lost would be many wouldn't dare post who do now, and many, very many who will in future won't, and you know the realism is that the very ones who will miss out will be those novices and newbies, who will never post.
Guest dogeon Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 IMO there is only one way to stop the con men and ar*e holes on here and that would be for the 5,892 pigeon basics members and any new members to register and to pay 1p either by paypal or card that can verify who you really are then perhaps the money then can go to PB cancer fund

Guest spin cycle Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 i think 'usernames' are a good thing and a bit of 'fun'. when i started my clubmates were all on about getting our birds to 'do the wash'....as i was press sec. i took the 'pen name' of 'spin cycle' and then used it when i joined here. there are some really good ones on here and they give newbies a bit of shelter. out of nearly 6k members very few post regularly and IMO it would be nice if more joined in. if you want to use your real name you can...unless you're a 'shrinking violet' like me (evil) (evil) (evil)
chickadee Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 I think that certain things should not be allowed unless you reveal your true name, like selling pigeons, bidding in an auction or fund raising to name a few as it leaves room for dishonesty. Nick names and aliases are great as all our family have them but we are also willing to reveal our true names as well. :-/
Guest strapper Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 when i sold some birds last xmas i sent in a donation...so the owners already know my real name.

Roland Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 I think that certain things should not be allowed unless you reveal your true name, like selling pigeons, bidding in an auction or fund raising to name a few as it leaves room for dishonesty. Nick names and aliases are great as all our family have them but we are also willing to reveal our true names as well. :-/ And some fell on stony ground, and of course much went and still goes over some heads. And your point if there is one :-/ (Could there be hidden agenda's here?) Even you must realise that this isn't a perfect world, that many different characters, factors, ones from different walks and moulds, ones that can’t argue, or want to, and many that hate asking a simple question without being ridiculed or laughed at. If this must be…. Better not at the real name Address and telephone numbers eh! etc. etc... Are we really to believe that in this case because you can't grasp, everyone, thing has to change :-/ Does one really expect because one wishes everyone to have his name in lights that that is the only way, only way forward and hence you must be right! Gosh a load of old tosh and well you know it. However, as it will never happen, couldn't work in any public site /domain, just why does it keep getting throw up for... Because certain ones want to know… and much what they what to know is irrelevant and none of anyone else’s darn business! Great thing about banging ones head against the wall is.... when one stops I guess. Is it's to know who you are insulting? Are you afraid to say what you think incase you are replying to someone who is a lot better and proven fancier? :B Or is it that one want to know to collect mud to sling? :( To be blunt, one can answer or reply, voice an oppinion, offer advice, or not whatever one chooses. As for getting into 'Slanging or name calling, then that is up to any and everyone any way. one will regardless if the real name is there or not any road.... But many of those wanting and seeeking advice and to ask what to them is important .... Wont be!
Roland Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 As for buying and selling ... well most will look at the bird and its merits... whether it is worthy or not. But that wouldn't stop a 'Con artiste' in the least, and that will always be a thing never to be stoped.... How many times did London Bridge get sold... 3 times before the genuine time... i rest my case lol Signed Jack Anorry ;D ;D

hepste Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 I think it should be up to the individual. Some people may hide behind anonymity for the wrong reasons. However, it does allow freedom of expression without fear of recrimination, and abuse, thereby promoting healthy debate. It does also have it's amusing side, because I am aware of some outrageous claims from some on here eg in relation to their pigeons performances that I know to be a load of old horlicks!
Delboy Posted July 21, 2009 Author Report Posted July 21, 2009 I find it quite interesting how people dont want to reveal their true identity. Do they think they wont be taken seriously if they arent a reknowned fancier ? This is totally wrong as everybody has something to give this site whether they are complete novices or professional fanciers. Everyone has an opinion and every opinion is equal.
Roland Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 Reminds me of the 'School Bully' syndrome. Find a reason, and try to enforce. What happens in reality... the Bully tries to believe he has proved something and then in turn was right... What did he proved, only that they weren't really that nice a person and the more intelligent and timid lads stayed well away :'( :'(... Likewise on here, won't prove a jot, won't gain a jot, but will drive many away! Fact that! And why :-/ :-/ :-/ To prove what/
Guest bristolkev Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 kevin wintle.......hello everyone!!!

Wish I hadnt started this thread as I now recognise why a lot of folk want and need anonymity.
