PATTY BHOY Posted April 25, 2012 Author Report Posted April 25, 2012 Why would you want to use bleach to dip yb,s? heard a guy talk about it,thought it was strange.
sapper756 Posted April 25, 2012 Report Posted April 25, 2012 I certainly would not dip birds in bleachhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/emoticon-0138-thinking.gif WHAT PRECAUTIONS SHOULD BE TAKEN WHEN USING A DILUTED BLEACH SOLUTION? Always wear gloves. Prolonged contact with even diluted bleach can dry or injure the skin. Always wear goggles if there is danger of a splash, especially when working above eye level. Never mix bleach solutions with other cleaning products. http://www.steamitgone.com/2011/01/25/the-hazards-of-bleach/
Wiley Posted April 25, 2012 Report Posted April 25, 2012 Birds are totally different to humans. Type in google the benefits of bleach for pigeons.
harry h Posted April 25, 2012 Report Posted April 25, 2012 No all it will do is dye the birds feathers a nice yellow colour that will help to attract the Hawks, used to dye my pouter hens with bleech years ago to attract the cocks but it weakens the feathers and can burn the quills.

Did you dip them in pure bleach? I'd never use it pure must be diluted.

Guest strapper Posted April 25, 2012 Report Posted April 25, 2012 tea spoon in the drinker wouldnt use it for dipping..id use chlorcarb for that. http://www.pigeonnetwork.com/vetdirectory/vetusa/DrDavidMarx/chlorine.cfm
Guest Owen Posted April 25, 2012 Report Posted April 25, 2012 Sorry mate but that is the craziest idea I have heard for a long time. Why in the name of goodness would you even think that this is a good idea. If you are concerned about external parasites the best way to deal with that would be either Moxidectine or Cidectine. If you use these products you will also clear the birds of air sack mites which are very difficult to deal with. If I were you I would ignore the clever git who told you that because he must be a right clown. If I had an idiot like that in my Club, I would love it because he would be great for supplying pool money for the rest of us to win.
ALF Posted April 25, 2012 Report Posted April 25, 2012 Chlorcarb is what you are after Pat dip your yb's in that and they will be fine and free of lice mate
just ask me Posted April 25, 2012 Report Posted April 25, 2012 total madness in my opinion Owens post above is bang on
Guest geordiejen Posted April 25, 2012 Report Posted April 25, 2012 the only time i use bleach is to clean all the containers and in a sprayer around the loft once a month.tried a halfteaspoonfull of bleach in the water regularly but then stopped after a few months it seemed to take away some of the birds immune system.i wouldnt recomend using bleach long term.never dipped the birds in bleach either dont see what good it would do.
billt Posted April 25, 2012 Report Posted April 25, 2012 Bleach is a household product to be used with care, not for use on livestock
