peter pandy
Did anyone read the article in the daily newspaper that putting ant powder down for ants is killing the small bird population that eats the ants says the RSPB. thats the next thing to be banned no doubt. andy Burgess
not hardly even let the older birds out and they not been near a baskett yet , actually getting paranoid about basketting them now Andyive always been a small team flier , but you just cant fly 4 or 6 old birds and 2 youngsters all season now , you wouldnt last passed the first race these days eh .i am looking to build a nice avairy on the stock loft .... if it gets so bad , a few old favourites in there maybe all the enjoyment left with them
kev01293
was on the train yesterday at about 11.30ish at redhill, surrey when i saw a batch of trainers heading south go over just as the train was pulling out of the station and just as i was getting my last glance before the train got further away something went straight into them and they all scattered in different directions i know we all say that its getting worse year on year which it is but its now got to the stage that we aint gonna have many birds left to race and those that are left will be scared shxtless to leave the panniers,i know what you mean andy when u say about keeping a few old favourites and if we are lucky we might even be able to let them out to excercise for 20 mins every now and then

billt
This year is mega different, In the 25yrs I've lived here my losses have been reasonable considering I'm surrounded by forestry, but I've had to keep the birds in, they were getting hammered, that includes street wise birds that were on open loft so no chance of letting youngsters out, they would not have a hope in hell , I really can't see there's a future for our sport under the present conditions

Guest bigda
what i think has caused the most bother is the f/king magpieit has haired every f/king nest, and there is very little sparrows about and small birds have no chance of getting a nest of young each year the birds you see just now none of the young will survive and when we get a hard winter then they will be gone also, with the birds getting scarce the pigeons are a great feast but that will dry up shortly with fanciers given up, i have said before i once through bread out for the birds 3 days later i decided to lift it up, as did not want to encourage rats can you imagine that 3day it was never touched, yes it was fresh pan bread i used tescos own :animatedpigeons: and with the bird count down the sparra hawk is going crazzy with hunger
