Guest Walt21 Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 has anyone ever heard of having to get planning permission on an allottment when there has been pigeon lofts all over them for as long as people in our area can remember,i took the old loft down fixed it up a bit put a tiled roof on it and put it back up and then a [planning bloke turned up unexpected and said ive got to apply for permission.
OLDYELLOW Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 non permanent structure , check with yer council and your allotment rent / contract , sometimes in conservation areas planning is required

andy Burgess Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 i would ask if there are any restrictions regarding size , materials etc . if youve NOT increased the size it could/should be classed as a refurbishment not a new structure .i wouldnt worry to much , even if you are required to get planning permission and the others are not ,wave the human right flag . you can always apply for retrospective planning if needed , get your club, fed ,union and fellow allotment members on your side . stay posotive. and good luck.

Guest Walt21 Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 NOT SURE MAYBE SOMETHING TO DOO WITH THE TILED ROOF MATE HAS ANY THE REST GOT THERE ROOFS TILLEDno olly mine is tiled, should i ignore it for a bit before applying for planning incase that opens a can of worms?as other pigeon fanciers have said its ludicruis as none has ever had to ask nfor planning and its prob just because this bloke has complained and they have told me to leave it a bit if the planning bloke comes back to me just put it to him that if i have to apply y not everyone else but i dont want to drag other people in to it that have lofts and big sheds up there
The engineer Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 On my allotments it actually states the size of shed allowed etc. It also says that if they were built prior to a certain date you did not need permission however if you took it down you are not allowed to rebuild it without council permission. I managed to still have mine however it took a bit of sweet talking them
gd Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 you knocked one down and put another up - should be no issue with planning

kirky Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 you knocked one down and put another up - should be no issue with planningif you put a tiled roof on its not classed as a sectional building and you would need planning.

peter66 Posted February 26, 2012 Report Posted February 26, 2012 Hi Paul, i live in Southampton, and i have a allotment, i contact the local council, about pigeon loft and after some letters to and from, i have permisson for a 12x6 loft, as pigeon came under poulty. it upset a few people.the only reason, i am moving to the allotment as my parents a getting older.i keep them and my gardens to small. ask dorset lad he be to my house, the allotment is just arcoss the road from me. going to race me old birds to parents then start with youngsters..
