dwh Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 HOLLAND IS 1/2 THE SIZE OF SCOTLAND and they seem to be doing ok, i think if we realy, realy, wanted to make Scotland the place to be we could but that would be a big ask. would hate it not to happen, then to find out at a later date, we get voted out, by some english law, or lords through parlament. why are they having the thing in the first place, this has to have a reason behind it.DANNY IF YOU THINK YOUR GETTING AN UNFAIR SHAKE FROM WEST MINSTER TRY THE NE OF ENGLAND BECAUSE OF THE GOVERNMENT USING THE BARNETT FORMULA PRO RATA YOU GOT IN ABOUT £1700 MORE THAN SOUTH OF THE BORDER AND AS INVEST IN THE NORTH EAST IS ONE OF THE LOWEST IN THE UK THINK YOUR SEL LUCKY

Whats it called Cumbernauld Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 Gesa wee shout if you find two englishmen when youget there mate
billt Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 It's a funny old thing as there isn't an English parliament, The one that sits in Westminster is for the UK, The Scottish and the Welsh have their own but not the English

Roland Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 I see the SNP leader is cocking up the referendum vote. Just a straight Yes or no would suffice. If in doubt let the English vote as well. 90% of them would be in agreement. But he seems to want nothing to do with it now, and is putting obstacles in the way. Wants the reality vote of Yes, then get terms sorted. But to try and get certain terms before anyone knows / hopes whether it will get passed is ludicrous. OK he wants Scotland to be freed from any National debt - some hope. He want us to give him the oil, which of course will never happen - and he well knows that, besides only 3% investment is Scottish. He also wants the English subsidy to carry on. In real terms he wants his cake and eat it. He wants complete independence - so do we for the Scots, but wants a bail out, handouts and further subsidising. He knows that can't, nor ever can happen.... So in real terms he 'Talks the Talk' but doesn't want the walk. Yes I suppose the realities are too much for him.... but a great vote catcher. Yet he is / has backed himself into a corner. Think he thought the brits wouldn’t grant it…
Guest bigda Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 Yes but Scottish law is made in Scotland not Englandyes Scottish law, is made in Scotland but you cant defend it in England. England has the autonomy over its citizens.
Walter swanston Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 I have two Geordie nephews who aint to happy with Westminster and would be very envious if Scotland achieved it independence
dwh Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 yep the Barnett formula was used as there where no seats for the Tory's,and as it was smoke zone and black iron working area as far back as the days of the Victorians when they did not find it suitable to live there due to the smog and dirt so it had no value at all for family prosperity, and the working age was 14 they will not give any thing to a area where they dont get votes from, working class area where raped and work moved to ares where the vote is more needed.THINK YOU NEED TO CHECK YOUR HISTORY DANNY M8

billt Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 I have two Geordie nephews who aint to happy with Westminster and would be very envious if Scotland achieved it independence Then why don't we go the whole hog and say independence for all Counties and Boroughs, United we stand Divided we fall as far as I'm concerned, and I've always been proud to say I am British
Pompey Mick Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 I feel really jealous of you lads North of the Border, at least you live in a Country, have a National Anthem and a Parliament. Here in England (a part of Great Britain and the United Kingdom) we have none of those.

Whats it called Cumbernauld Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 I don't want independence am Scottish and 3/4 of the Scottish population doesn't want it either so let the Snp have there vote and lets see once and for all straight yes or no This will be a lot closer than that. The last time we were asked those who did not vote, were used as a no vote A typical turnout at ecections is around 40% of the population if you are very lucky. If around 25% vote yes, this may well be enough. I think it could to be around 30% or a third. Make no mistake about it this will be close Close enough to give us some hope for the future, this temptation of a new begining will be to much for some.
JADE Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 Big Eck is scared of a straight yes or no because he doesn`t think he will win it and if he doesn`t that will be him and the SNP finished. Without him they are nothing. Nippy Nicola says what folk want to hear but it doesnt count for much in the real world and as for the rest of their MSP`s just a bunch of wannabees who will never be. If Labour had a decent leader in Scotland the SNP would be blown away
Whats it called Cumbernauld Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 If Labour had a decent leader in Scotland the SNP would be blown away Thats right but they dont
billt Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 If Labour had a decent leader in Scotland the SNP would be blown away Thats right but they dont What no Tories then
Whats it called Cumbernauld Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 Fact of the mater is the Labour party will rule Scotland for ever more after independance. Just they will be finished in London as a uk party without Scotland and they know it.
