billt Posted December 27, 2011 Report Posted December 27, 2011 WHEN IS A YEARLING NOT A YEARLING I suppose in theory it would be Jan. 1st. the second year after it's birth
sean75 Posted December 27, 2011 Report Posted December 27, 2011 I suppose in theory it would be Jan. 1st. the second year after it's birthso does that mean that the lads that have their yb rung now mean their yb are really yearlings imo yes i think they are we can not get our rings till jan 2012 and they are yb not yb rung in december 2011 cant see how people ring yb with 2012 rings in december 2011 its wrong but thats jmo
ALF Posted December 27, 2011 Report Posted December 27, 2011 IT'S A YEARLING THE YEAR AFTER THE YEAR DATE ON IT'S RING DISNAE MATTER IF IT IS 2 MONTHS OLD AT THE TIME OR 12 MONTHS OLD ON THE 1ST OF JANUARY ALL 2011 RUNG PIGEONS ARE YEARLINGS
JohnQuinn Posted December 27, 2011 Report Posted December 27, 2011 A yearling becomes a yearling the day after its first birthday, until the day of its 2nd birthday, no matter what age the Ring says it is.
billt Posted December 27, 2011 Report Posted December 27, 2011 so does that mean that the lads that have their yb rung now mean their yb are really yearlings imo yes i think they are we can not get our rings till jan 2012 and they are yb not yb rung in december 2011 cant see how people ring yb with 2012 rings in december 2011 its wrong but thats jmoI do agree with what you're saying, I don't think youngsters ringed in 2011 should be wearing 2012 rings, especially as it's not an option to everyone, but if it is wearing a 2012 ring it will be a 2012 young bird
victorious Posted December 27, 2011 Author Report Posted December 27, 2011 WHAT I REALLY AM GETTING AT IS FANCIERS ARE CLOCKING 18 MONTH OLD YEARLINGS FROM 500 HUNDRED MILES BUT REALLY THER NOT YEARLINGS ARE THEY ?

billt Posted December 27, 2011 Report Posted December 27, 2011 WHAT I REALLY AM GETTING AT IS FANCIERS ARE CLOCKING 18 MONTH OLD YEARLINGS FROM 500 HUNDRED MILES BUT REALLY THER NOT YEARLINGS ARE THEY ? All birds at 18mnths. are yearlings, 0-1yr. is a y/bird 1-2yr. is a yearling, So 23 months is still a yearling
sean75 Posted December 27, 2011 Report Posted December 27, 2011 you dont get much of a headstart only a couple of weeks at most i would thinkso as yearlings it wouldnt make any differance if they were 2 weeks older17 1/2 months or 18 months old ps- i dont get my rings till januaryand it doesnt bother me that i could be racing against birds 2 or 3 weeks older than mine i would be doing that anyway if i paired up laterdoesnt bother me either we dont pair up early its just imo all rings should be handed out the turn ov the year not end ov the year
Roland Posted December 27, 2011 Report Posted December 27, 2011 My August / September late breds I bred this year, will be in 5 days time yearlings. Simple that.... as I couldn't race them next season y/b's for instance. But can race them upto 500 miles etc. if I so wished. Think, personally, that they would take all the beating at that.
PIGEON_MAN Posted December 28, 2011 Report Posted December 28, 2011 so does that mean that the lads that have their yb rung now mean their yb are really yearlings imo yes i think they are we can not get our rings till jan 2012 and they are yb not yb rung in december 2011 cant see how people ring yb with 2012 rings in december 2011 its wrong but thats jmoYou say you cant get your rings until Jan.is that because your in the SHU as RPRA members can get them in Dec,received our club rings about 5 days ago and also my NFC rings, not that it makes much difference to me as I wont be using them until Feb.
