andy Burgess Posted October 8, 2011 Report Posted October 8, 2011 It has been confirmed that the show at Egremont has been cancled due to a virus being found in the near by areaoh dear , thats not good at all.
greenlands Posted October 8, 2011 Report Posted October 8, 2011 Not good.... Could this effect north England and into scotland showing?I wouldn't think so but I would hope that anyone from an infected area would use a bit of common sense while there are any restrictions on regarding the movement of birds. Lindsay
greenlands Posted October 8, 2011 Report Posted October 8, 2011 DEFRA involved in the decision DEFRA was called in and took the required samples which confirmed that four lofts proved positive for PMV. other lofts tested were given the all clear. Please take note this is second hand info as I was not among those tested and not in the area affected. Lindsay
just ask me Posted October 10, 2011 Report Posted October 10, 2011 pity that but pmv seems to be worse than last year
Guest geordiejen Posted October 10, 2011 Report Posted October 10, 2011 it was the show organisers that cancelled.apparently its been found in the wild pigeons too.

Guest TAMMY_1 Posted October 11, 2011 Report Posted October 11, 2011 It has been confirmed that the show at Egremont has been cancled due to a virus being found in the near by area a lot of folk do not vaccinate fancy pigeons and I suppose this is the outcome,we vaccinate all our birds, racers, show birds and stock birds alike even the loft with the old age pensioners in it that never go anywhere
Guest geordiejen Posted October 13, 2011 Report Posted October 13, 2011 the show organisers are just being responsible and lathough money from the club is lost its in the best interest of the birds and show exhibitors.this show is one we all lok forward to as its our first show of the year, well mines anyway.we also are not asked to vaccinate our birds.
steve Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 tammy not all fanciers vaccinate the pmv was confirmed in racing lofts not in fancy lofts this Cancelled show will cost the egremont club everything still has to payed for and entry fees will have to be refunded i feel for these guys through no fault of there own it is going to cost them big style just a shame we dont have the following the racing lads do or we would be fund rasing for this show now or maybe we could could we ???????
REDCHEQHEN Posted October 19, 2011 Report Posted October 19, 2011 You cannot show your birds, racing or otherwise if they have not been vaccinated it has nothing to do with the shows asking you to vaccinate (though they should ask for - and KEEP a copy of your vaccination certificate ) it is a DEFRA requirement (by law) if you move your pigeons out of your loft area (that includes showing, training, racing)and whether you keep show racers, fancy pigeons, or racing pigeons - it reflects on all of us if you do not stick to the regulations the only people who can 'get away' with not vaccinating their pigeons, are those who do not do any of the above, and the pigeons only stay in the loft of the owner (and are therefore not 'moved')
