Guest charliepigeon Posted August 7, 2011 Report Posted August 7, 2011 I had 13 out of 13 from Hereford 77 miles!
THE FIFER Posted August 8, 2011 Report Posted August 8, 2011 just took my 17 young birds for a toss as hopefully they will get their first race this week, they have been over the water and had a few tosses, so took them to Burntisland just this side of the FORTH, looked around and the sky was klear, so up they went, watched them circle around for a while the knocking along came about 60 or more birds heading for the Forth going south, mine were still circling but the big batch swerved round and all joined up, so whatched them for a while, some trying to break away now and then but all went south, so hopefully I get some back, this is in my opinion the biggest reason for losses, clashing, too many birds in the sky, and young birds follow others, :emoticon-0179-headbang: if mine come it will have been good training, this was about 10-50 at Burnisland/ just a thought, who would be tossing from North of the Forth going South
geordie1234 Posted August 8, 2011 Report Posted August 8, 2011 another 3 so 11, 7 to come,Gd stuff Same thing happend to me with 24 about 8 weeks ago i ended up with 18, those 18 have been trained hard and 2 races still here, maybe does them the world of good
clockman Posted August 8, 2011 Report Posted August 8, 2011 another 3 so 11, 7 to come,that would make 18.
REDCHEQHEN Posted August 8, 2011 Report Posted August 8, 2011 that would make 18. Not like you to be 'on the ball' George
THE FIFER Posted August 8, 2011 Report Posted August 8, 2011 yes thats right I now have 13 so 4 to come :emoticon-0127-lipssealed:
andy Posted August 9, 2011 Report Posted August 9, 2011 Pentland Fed racing seems to have been good for 3 weeks with very little losses, although they've only had 3 Ridsdales, 76 miles to me. This week we're at Thirsk 140 miles, so things could change. Mine on their way to Otterburn at the moment (66 miles) so fingers crossed for a good toss......

Be interesting to know of what is the reason why Pentland are jumping from 76 miles to 140?? cheersGareth

It may work, may not, Saturday will tell.

geordie1234 Posted August 9, 2011 Report Posted August 9, 2011 Does anyone think that if we didnt race youngbirds just for one year it would bring the BOP numbers down as we know this is when the full family are out to learn and feed so if we didny race the youngsters there will be less food for them???
