Approx 1,400 birds were liberated from Thornton at 08:00.Broken cloud, sunshine and no wind.Birds cleared racepoint very well with no disruption(bop)GOOD LUCK TO ALL.

On a day of good visability, broken cloud and sun at liberation why were returns slow and drawn out.I anticipated winning birds doing 45mph.With no question of clashing being an option, why such a funny race?

Atmospherics, BOP, over medicated pigeons and gung ho attitudes, regardless of what we think, the losses will continue. As for BOP....we can sort them out yet face the clink if caught. ..Unbelievable....it would be easier tae get aff wae rape....

If we dont stand together as one on the BOP were expletive rwmoved.....whats the worst they can do....jail us all.

imo the birds were interfered with at kennoway because myself and lochgelly flyer alec who helped me lib both watched as they cleared perfectly north, at rouhgly 3mile they started circling and i asked alec at what area did he think it was ,he said kennoway, there is bop at the quarry, there is also bop at cuper, i think they were turned west, off the line of flight and then had to put in the milaege,on the way home weather was perfect until huntly area when there was some drizzle, also overcast but cleared by keith area,at the club some had very good returns others including myself never saw a feather,k index was high? something in the air ?maybe. ithink the only thing that ruins the birds homing is predators and we are under estimating the actual numbers that are out there, by the way the birds in the transporter were in good nick and just itchin to go,also returns into buckie were coming out of the west. davy

aye davie i agree with the kennoway bit, my mate lives about a mile from there and says there are plenty bops there, atmospherics could well play a part, i dare say we could sit all day and come up with suggestions to what happened but the bop plays a major part in the losses, we dont need to send them to races to see that its happening at home around the lofts, and ive the evedince to back that up , the way things are we wont have pigeon racing as a sport/ hobby in a few years as fanciers just wont race the birds for the fear of losses, its starting to happen now

As i say to davy every week our main concern is a decent lib with blue sky visible to birds.Every lib this year they have had this and cleared sites quickly,it dosent seem to matter now whether 60mls or 460mls every race is a marathon for a lot of birds through no fault of their own.Have you ever seen the like waiting all day for birds to return from brechin, most birds should be at your loft within an hour of your first arival, doesnt happen anymore.

They were doing fine up to NEAR kennoway Brian, they were probably nearer the star and they seem to be held up there for a while for whatever reason. Just trying to help the boys have an understanding of what went on after the lib. Being from Kennoway i do know where it is, cheers mucker. :emoticon-0138-thinking:

Batch of around 50 went over Montrose at 9:22, they were pushng on, would say a lot faster than the results show.

We are probably around 30 miles from Thornton, this would suggest they were held up early on.

George would maybe have been speaking about fanciers in his own club. I can assure you that everybody did not have good returns myself included. What you probably dont realise is that our Fed streches 80 miles east to west and I can tell you the guys in the west did not get good returns.

: thanks for the info lads, its good to hear others opinions when we have a puzzling race,it looks like some birds got back on their line and was heading north but it could be that a large part of the convoy went inland, velocities on the east were what you would expect but the west were nowhere near it, nothing back today and its rained non stop. :cry-blow: davy.

i have ended up losing 8 from the weekend . i think the reason i lost 8 is i have now got the young bird sickness for the first time . me personaly i think this is one of the main reasons why our fed had poor returns i know of 5 fanceirs who have admitted to having it . i also know of another fanceir who has 10 missing from 30 from a 100 mile race crazy .i am now at the opinion that its rife in our fed with more fanceirs having it without realising it you just need to look at the returns it tells its own story me am as seek :emoticon-0179-headbang: :emoticon-0179-headbang: :emoticon-0179-headbang:
