Some are born like that!!!!!

all depends on the toughness of the race wind in face etc we have all in seen some right tough races from 200 mile or less even

so i think it more depends on the hardship but i feel very few birds are out and out racers at even 3 years old

Racing widowhood I dont think they become plodders............... I think they just get wise to the game. They say the best widowhood cocks are those that never truly suss the system, these go on to 5-6 years of age if your very lucky.

i agree

am also of the belief that the real smart ones sometimes catch on to the system to fast so stop racing :emoticon-0138-thinking:

Hi Andy

Pigeons don't know the difference between training and

racing. The more times up put them in the basket the bigger

the chance thats exactly what happens

Cheers

good fit pigeons should be able to race every week its nowing when thare starting to fall back its time to ether give them a rest or thare not right if for example you start the racing a couple minets out frome the winers and then it starts to go by the 10min to 20min out the further thay go thare somthing not just right and if you keep going you will take the fire out the belly and make them into just homers who no thay will always get home and just waight for a disaster of a race so one will turn up

For most big winners there course is planed at the start of the season and the game plan is usually stuck by.

Maybe no more than 4 races used as prep for the big one When they go to the big one theres not a lot been taken out of them there pretty fresh Take the champion racehorse they never run more than 3to 4 races a year When the old plodder is maybe raced twice a month and never wins

Not many birds can do it week in and week out Maybe thats how we end up with plodders

now your talking about setting doos up for the big event not the plodders but you can beet a lot of the big winners are not set up or are the fanced doos but doos that have been worked hard and been wright for the job and may be not have showed at any race before but been a steady doo

It all depends on the distances flown. I have raced YBs to 300miles, NFC, then as yearlings sent them to two 400 miles NFC MNFC, then 560 MNFC or 500 miles NFC or MNFC. There are not amny left but they continue to perform as two year olds but I have sent them as yearlings to 660 miles NFC and they are done for as racing goes usually. I only ever had one go onto do it again and score. FB Foxy. bred by Eric Fox raced by me!!
