Guest IB Posted June 5, 2011 Report Posted June 5, 2011 Yesterday's race threads make it clear that organisations racing both from and to Scotland all got bad races on Saturday. Didn't matter whether birds were facing the wind, had it on their tails, racing east coast or west. Only thing common to them all was Scotland and the changed weather conditions?

Rooster J. Cogburn Posted June 5, 2011 Report Posted June 5, 2011 The first real disastrous race I remember was from Buckingham when I was about 14 or 15.Was told something then that could not be truer or indeed simpler. If its good weather you get good racing,if its bad weather you get bad racing.I only had pigeons at Leicester yesterday with the fed.I was not comfortable sitting outside for the couple of hours when the birds were due so its no surprise a lot of the birds didn't face the fly of 6 or 7 hours. Think the SNFC needs a bit of consistancy with its race programme.Wish racepoints could be settled on and stuck to for a few years instead of the constant chopping and changing the last few years have seen.
dal2 Posted June 5, 2011 Report Posted June 5, 2011 So by the sounds of it the boys in the south waved some papers and everybody else voted this race point in. Seems a big prob that it wisnae east given the convoy a huge disadvantage being west and libbed in an east wind!!!!!When we are at eastbourne in a fortnight should we hold them if we get consistenet East winds???? Oh wait we have already done that!!!When we race East and get a west wind thats quite strong then wot then???? Lets just face facts, we got a stinker and thats that!!! I have 6/15 and gutted but thats pigeon racin and we should suck it up and move on! Very well done to all that timed good birds and all that have good returns but lets not start shoutin aboot race position as EVERYBODY who raced yesterday got a stiff race! The first real disastrous race I remember was from Buckingham when I was about 14 or 15.Was told something then that could not be truer or indeed simpler. Ye Lewis it was very cool yesterday. Did you get a good race frae the fed?
Delboy Posted June 5, 2011 Report Posted June 5, 2011 Not that clued up on K Index so cant comment. Bovingdon was the racepoint last year that put paid to the channel entries and maybe we should restrict the inland races to yearlings so then it would not have such an effect on entries later for the channel. Either that or drop them altogether and let the Feds organise the inland programme. Bit of thinking to do for folk before the AGM then. Now yer talking Bob
Guest stb- Posted June 5, 2011 Report Posted June 5, 2011 SENNEN COVE RACE ,,not even 200 birds back in dublin out of 4300 birds think that sums it up
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted June 5, 2011 Report Posted June 5, 2011 irsih got hammered at talbenny welsh nat south route hammered at messac ,,theres no scotland in there equation , it has been bad all over yesterday , wheather its been the north east wind or as they say the k index but summit not quite right every where,, scotland wasnt a prob for yours , 4/4 cannt be bad well done on 100% returns spot on it was all races yesterday and not just scotland, our fed at Carentan had terrible returns, and the NMCFC at Fougeres had just much the same race
Chris Little Posted June 5, 2011 Report Posted June 5, 2011 A disasterous race, simple as that, we have 6 from 9 Absolutley nothing to do with the racepoint far from it, it was the fresh north east wind that done the damage. As for the statement regarding the south guys conned those at the AGM regarding Marlborough it a load of sh**

Didn't pick up that these other organisations got hit too. Must have been hell for all these birds.

As for the statement regarding the south guys conned those at the AGM regarding Marlborough it a load of sh** Hi Chris Regards to the fresh north east wind was it not the case yesterday that it was 20-23 degrees in the southern half of the UK gradually cooling down as they came up country, these missing doos are not in the vicinity of Scotland or even North of England for that matter. South lads are like any other fancier in Scotland, all entitled to have a vote and nothing wrong with this.
Rooster J. Cogburn Posted June 5, 2011 Report Posted June 5, 2011 Ye Lewis it was very cool yesterday. Did you get a good race frae the fed? Not TOTALLY disastrous but theres still a few doos missing.A lot of guys had less than half their doos home last night.I'm sitting with 25/34 as it stands. Was 4th in the club with one of the doos I hope tae get tae Messac-a couple of minutes behind the winner, they were coming well at the start but it dried up with them slowly working in all day.Snuck away with the first hit of the pools though and managed to retain the Avonbrig Knock Out crown after a dramatic final
REDROCKET Posted June 5, 2011 Report Posted June 5, 2011 pigeons made it all the way up the east??????????? we had 24 birds away at the w/e 8 to marlbor and 16 to peterbourgh 4 of 5 of the peterbourgh birds are home 2 bad races for us in one week end so bad race for us and thanks to homer on here for the bird i timed from peterbourgh to take 4th in the club was from him.
sapper756 Posted June 5, 2011 Author Report Posted June 5, 2011 Will you be racin frae Eastbourne Brian? At the moment the plan is to go to our federations comeback race from Ripon next weekend 155 miles, and then select a team for Eastbourne. We will wait and seehttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/emoticon-0126-nerd.gif what about you?
novo10 Posted June 5, 2011 Report Posted June 5, 2011 was talking to gareth this morning and imo he was correct in what he said youve got pigeons racing east and pigeons racing west the ones racing east maybe trying to cross to eastside and zigzagging up country got very tired in northeast wind then maybe hit rain in yorkshire and k index was also high this also stopping pigeons in making it home we race westcoast and we have also got 15 to come out of 27 so imo it doesnt matter where racepoint was it was bad race so lets get on with it and hope we get our birds back and well done to everybody who timed
Guest Davy Fleming Posted June 5, 2011 Report Posted June 5, 2011 Hi Gareth, I think you are pretty much bang on with the K-Index mate.

andy Posted June 5, 2011 Report Posted June 5, 2011 Mibe learn us to do our homework intead of listening to the wise men in the South who conned us at the AGM by waving sheets of paper n telling us all it was situated to the East of Newbury. High time race-points were put down in writing so everyone can do their own research before the AGM.Got to agree with you about AGM motions. They should be in writing so all can assess, and chose to go and vote or accept the democratic decision. Dont think it matters what side of the country yesterday. North East no good to man nor beast!!!
Guest Dorset-lad Posted June 5, 2011 Report Posted June 5, 2011 George all orgs got a hammering yesterday dosent matter what part of the country they raced from ,, scots irish english n welsh north and south east and west all the same . North East no good to man nor beast!!!Spot on there Andy everything in writing ,take a point between Glasgow and Edinburgh and draw a line dead centre of the country then fair for everyone ,was sitting yesterday with jumper and jacket on murder man, mind you good doos in a1 condition will come from anywhere on there day good luck for the remaining races
mushroom Posted June 5, 2011 Report Posted June 5, 2011 Lofts in Ulster had reports of SU birds in fours and fives, also a loft in Anglesey Wales reported having 3 SU birds in. Well done to those that were in the result.
Blue Tooner Posted June 5, 2011 Report Posted June 5, 2011 Hi Gareth, I think you are pretty much bang on with the K-Index mate. This is something that has to be looked into. I noticed on another forum last night that Bill Cowell was warning everyone earlier last week that Saturday June 4th would not be good for racing due to the K-Index being very high. I also heard that the K-Index is always taken into consideration by race controllers in China and they will not liberate if it is too high, regardless of how good weather conditions are. Can anyone imagine not liberating in excellent conditions?? the race controller would be lynched!!Food for thought here possibly
