ITALY V FRANCE

WALES V IRELAND

looking forward to these games todayhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/emoticon-0137-clapping.gif

France to win, 20 by points just over.

Wales to win 12 points or so.

Wales /Scotland will be excited I think because 'Speed' will be very much the essence I think. Not really 'Big Sides' in regard Physics.

But Wales determination a zeal will be too much I believe. Scotland lack 'Game Winner / Inspirational players, where as Wales do have a couple or so. JMO. Will be rooting for Italy, but niether Scotland / Wales, but will just sit back and relax and enjoy what I think will be a good game between them.

I love it when we win ugly.

A wins a win Eh lol

Mind I think they edged it, but the ball ran for them. However like Henry, Maradonna, etc. it will label them cheats as they knew better. The assistant ref will - like the Ref - will be shown many times over for years to come. And why not ask for the 30 seconds the TV replay take makes me wonder. Here is everyone nigh asking for 'Camera' and like Cricket etc. Rugby has it and then doesn't ask for it :emoticon-0126-nerd::mellow: Think that will be another talking topic.

Roland, Rugby is a game that has to play by the Ref,s decisions as everybody knows. No talking back, no chance of Refs changing their minds. The Ref's word is law in Rugby. The Welsh Team had to accept the two decisions that went the Irish way that lead to penalty kicks so they did the same with the throw in. What the Ref said went on all these occasions. If the Ref said it was a try, it was. Bear in mind he did not have a television in his back pocket to see re-runs or play backs. A few years ago in 2003 Wales had a penalty and asked the Ref if there was enough time left to kick for touch and then take the throw-in. The Ref told Colin Charvis, the Captain, that there was. Wales kicked for touch and the Ref blew for the end of the game. He had changed his mind and there was nothing to be done about it. So what is different about today. Besides, the Irish could have drawn the game but chose to cut inside instead of running straight. On that basis alone they deserved to loose.

Yes I agree Owen, thats the power of TV,We see replays and can see errors made by referees in both rugby and football but not so easy when you're down at pitch level and if you stopped for a replay of every decision the game would last forever :D

Agreed Owen, that the Ref has the last word... But he has the power to today of a 'camera' at his disposal. Not saying for a moment he has to use it of course. But a little commonsence in this case of the Ball going into the crowd and then a quick throw 25 yards up field should have raise a little alarm bell if Not a flipping great Ding Dong lol. After all this is one of the reason they have agreed for camera use, to put things straight when need be ...

Yep Owen 'Win ugly' is appreciated lol ... But not when England beat France apparently lol! :emoticon-0136-giggle::emoticon-0140-rofl::emoticon-0140-rofl:

The Referee in the Wales Scotland game was a disgrace. I saw at least 5 occasions when the Irish Forwards were holding the Welsh players up to prevent them going to ground by using neck holds. The main culprits were the Second Rows but even O'Gara was at it. Their idea was to slow the ball down to prevent the Welsh recycling. The Welsh players were shouting and screaming at the Ref to deal with it but he refused. He should be banned from International Games for incompetance. Tackling around the neck and neck holds have been banned from the game years ago. If this goes on one of two things will happen. Either the Players will react and take things uppon themselves to stop this practise by fighting back or someone will have a serious accident.

Anyone brave enough to watch the womens game that followed at Twickenham it was so much better to watch, hardly any penalties, do women understand the rules better,England ran out winners 89-0 but the Scottish lasses never let their heads down and played to the final whistle, even I was hoping they were going to get on the score sheet

100% Correct Owen.... trouble is when they start making a protest, it A. becomes the norm, and follows other sports diabolical gamesmanship ... or the players get very frustrated and retailiate on the pitch, which of course may lead to alsorts of unpleasantries. The Refs DO KNOW better, and let it ride ... at the peril.

Likewise the Scotland game.... the Ref should have instilled the rules and got a fast flowing and entertaining game - regardless who won, which will always auger well for the benefit of the game, and players. Too many like to be on the Tele thinking they are the sars i believe.

I think Ireland's / Welsh also to some extent, tactics worked in regards of winning and losing .... but the Fans lose out too, and they must always be considered as the main stay of the game.

Sponsors etc. are fine, but it is the grass root boys attending games and interest that decides in the end .... and whether they wish to turn up to attend.

Football - still the biggest game with public, has degenerated colosally through badly managed games and crowds behavior. Rugby needs to take heed I fear. Yes - at the moment a diffeent mind set ...

Years ago when I played people thought that Rugby was a game for the Players and the Spectators were not considered. If there were problems with players spoiling the game either through gamesmanship of by doing sneaky things, it was accepted that the players would right the wrong by clobbering the culprit. Almost every game there would be scuffling Players scraping somewhere on the pitch while the game moved on. There were never any yellow cards or sending offs. As a young player I had to learn to deal with the way the game was played. These days I sometimes wonder if I am looking at a bunch of lady basket ball players performing. Due to the fact that a lot of people who watch do not understand the game, the authorities have tried to make the game spectacular by encouraging the Players to throw the ball about. It is all foreign to me I'm afraid. I like the grunt and groan I was part of for so long. I liked the days when the Pontypool Coach, Ray Prosser openly said that the best centres were wing forwards because they could tackle hard and stop the opposition backs becoming over confident. I also liked scrum halves who played like extra forwards like David Bishop and Terry Holmes with Outside Halves who could kick accurately enough to have the forwards continually running onto a ball dropping just outside the opposition 25. In my day the word pack meant exactly that, the forwards worked together and hunted as a pack, and you could cover them all with a blanket most of the time. These days we see big lumbering Forwards messing about in the back line, getting in the way and slowing the thoroughbreds down to walking pace. What is that all about? I thought that the Forwards' job was to subdue the opposition Forwards so that the backs can run without them getting in the way.

The sad thing is that the International Games are well attended and real money spinners while the Club Rugby is struggling financially. I hope one day someone will see sense and let the game flow as it used to and allow the players to sort things out for themselves. Referees have far too much influence now and they should have their authority reduced so that they can stop spoiling things.
