VMS Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 Its a complete rip-off from start to finish and this is just the taste of things to come.It will become more expensive year on year being charged for the updates is the next thing wait and see. Personally i don't have it and have no interest in getting it.
wee eck Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 i am hearing that the unikon ets rings are increasing to £1.48 each, is this correct??? i my opinion i think we will see fanciers returning to the rubbering of our birds if the price continues increasing at this rate, what are your take on this folks ??it is just basic rule of business----sell clocks as cheaply as you can then get your return on the rings, all the electronic console / games companies do the same, as consumers it is up to us to decide whether we buy the product or not but with a weak pound and a vat increase should we be expecting anything else ? no one forces any of us to use ets and i doubt very much that we are actually being ripped off even though that seems to be the first shout every time any price goes up, everyone is out to make a living and i doubt that any company would be willing to price its product out of a market
holmsidelofts Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 As the Great Man says use Rubbers on the youngsters but the problem may be as most fanciers have now off-loaded their Clocks . Yeah you'd think as more people bought ets the cheaper the rings would become.
Guest spin cycle Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 i wonder if the ets companies will lobby to get certain older clocks (grey stbs??) put into the category of 'if you owned one on a cetain date you can use it....but if you buy one after that date you can't'....in order to stop fanciers reverting. having sold the clocks they now want to make an income on them...rings and updates being 2 ways. once the clocks get older and start to break down they'll get repair business....or it'll be 'replacement sales'.....mind you you if the build quality is good this may not be the case.
THE FIFER Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 most of the ETS clocking companies will have a stand at Blackpool so we can put our complaint there and ask any questions we have, but what is not going up in price just now,
Roland Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 i think that all relevant pigeon unions should pass arulethat all ets rings are compatable with all clocksand then we would have a price warall rings universal Agree totally, But won't happen for that very POSSBLE reason! But in all honesty, I don't think a 'Price war', or even being competative would happen .... they'd be a cartel and ALL put up prices thae same. We will have to dance to the tune if we want to dance I'm afraid
Guest stb- Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 aye we should tell em 20p a ring max as chips are cheap
frank-123 Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 still got mine going to use it for y/bs this year that's what i done this year save myself a wee fortune and come the old birds they will have them on think more people might do this in the future
JohnQuinn Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 I've still got my STB,, Toulet and Benzing clocks, but i'm thinking of just sending my Yb's as trainers this year, with no race ring on, until the Duplication race then i'll put ETS rings on they entries. I canny see me using rubber rings again, but never say never!!!
geordie1234 Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 Well after reading through this thread i think i might just give buying a ets this year and stick to a manual clock after all it will be my first year racing
Guest neil Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 i may have missed something along the way (i use Bricon and only bought from bricon at around the £1.05 mark last year}but i was not aware that there were specific rings to specific systems and therefore a tied situation,a chip is a chip and when strays came in over my pad it registered that an unknown bird was in the loft.I thought i could use any chip ring as long as the registration of the ring was adhered to in the club. This creates competition and if unicon want to charge more than the others then they wont sell any.Are they not universal? Neil
demolition man Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 i don't disagree that the rings are a rip off i think the union's should step in and do something about it, i won't hold my breath on that one rubbers are not that cheap either, so ets save's clubs money in my opionion, so once a ring is asigned to a pigeon it should be kept on that pigeon until you finish racing it , if you race a pigeon up to 5 years it works out less than 30p a year. jmo
Blue Chequer Pied Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 I don't really have a choice if I want to compete as I work most saturdays. I think ETS is a good thing especially for people in my position but the cost is rising at a scandalous level. It won't stop me using the system and I wouldn't go back to rubbers. Our club has a stock (we are 100% unikon ETS)and you can buy them when you like to spread the cost. I did read somewhere that the company that makes rubber rings (or one of them ) was in financial difficulty due to the drop in demand.
jacs Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 well i have made up my mind to race my young birds useing rubber rings as i only race a few . the following year i will buy accordingly to cover my old birds so they have lost about £40+ of me as i rear 80 young birds
glenrandal Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 i was seriously thinking about an ets system but the price of the ets rings has put me off.......
andy Posted January 17, 2011 Report Posted January 17, 2011 when i myself brought the clock ray knight told me that the rings would stay at the same price £1 each that there was no profit in the rings just the system. NOW he cant sell any more clocks hes going to make the money now out of the rings instead in my opinion he took the fancy on and now we are going to pay the price and they come up last year that you had to pay for the club system aswell.I am going back to my s t b this year .We were told in Scotland the rings would be cheaper the more systems sold. Just lies, although the idea of ETS is great, the majority of the fancy who are elderly, will struggle to afford them.
PIGEON_MAN Posted January 17, 2011 Report Posted January 17, 2011 i was seriously thinking about an ets system but the price of the ets rings has put me off.......Have a look at BRICON probably the cheapest system and definatly the cheapest rings.
terry mac Posted January 17, 2011 Report Posted January 17, 2011 now we all know why some ets companies locked there clocks, so that the owners have to buy there make of rings, just one big con, its time the unions forced the ets companies to unlock there systems,so that they accept all makes of ets rings, by the way i have the MEGA system, my rings will cost me £1.05 at blackpool. and the MEGA will accept any make of rings
Guest QUIETMAN Posted January 17, 2011 Report Posted January 17, 2011 HI,what about the £60 for the base unit insurance they are talking about charging the clubs each year.THANK YOU QUIET-MAN.
PIGEON_MAN Posted January 17, 2011 Report Posted January 17, 2011 HI,what about the £60 for the base unit insurance they are talking about charging the clubs each year.THANK YOU QUIET-MAN.That is a insurance for the eqipment they loan you nobody is forced to pay it.
Guest spin cycle Posted January 17, 2011 Report Posted January 17, 2011 That is a insurance for the eqipment they loan you nobody is forced to pay it. what does the insurance cover ? what is this thing about activation codes?....no 'axe to grind' just curious.
Guest Tooshy Boy Posted January 17, 2011 Report Posted January 17, 2011 HI,what about the £60 for the base unit insurance they are talking about charging the clubs each year.THANK YOU QUIET-MAN.LETS GO BACK TO THE OLD WAY WITH THA RUBBER RACE BANDS THERE JUST GREEDY .///
PIGEON_MAN Posted January 17, 2011 Report Posted January 17, 2011 what does the insurance cover ? what is this thing about activation codes?....no 'axe to grind' just curious. The insurance covers the eqipment thats on loan to the club, although its on loan if it breaks down the club is responsible for its repair, but you have a choice weather you have it insured or not,the activation code is given to the person whose name Unikon have on record as being responsible for it,this also tells them how many systems are out there and where.
