sapper756 Posted December 4, 2010 Report Posted December 4, 2010 I have noticed that quite a few members are talking about pairing up soon. So what preparations do members put into place prior to pairing up? ie. treatments, feeding, introducing the pairs etchttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/scotland.gif Thank Youhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/santa-dance.gif
Tony C Posted December 4, 2010 Report Posted December 4, 2010 No real preparations here, just put them on a stronger mix 2-3 weeks prior to pairing up.

Tony C Posted December 4, 2010 Report Posted December 4, 2010 do you not treat for cocci , canker or worms, prior to pairing Tony? I treat for worms whilst they're sitting. Canker & cocci aren't done as a matter of routine. Should I think I have a problem I'll then treat, if not I leave well alone.
budgie Posted December 4, 2010 Report Posted December 4, 2010 Heard in the Grape vine that King Billys paired up his Doos the day
Wiley Posted December 4, 2010 Report Posted December 4, 2010 Prior they are already done for paratyphus, in prep for me pairing for 15th Janurary. Worms they will be treated for in the next couple of weeks, and then cankered while they are sitting. Lights will be put on for stock only 14 days prior to pairing, and there feed will be on a rising plane.

Guest IB Posted December 4, 2010 Report Posted December 4, 2010 Mine are on their last flight, and I will be taking a pooled droppings sample soon for testing. Treatment will depend on advice from vet. Then PMV vaccination January. Pairing mid-February. I put the intended pairings together for an hour with the hen locked in closed half of the box. Gives me a chance to find out if there's problems with intended pairings, and maybes change them.
