seen a roofer on some scaffonding cleaning it off today,roof was covered with 6inches of snow -keen guy

 

 

one of my clubmates is re-roofing his house :rolleyes: ....i expect its 'snow joke' (sorry)....surely winter and especially this weather must affect the building trade...not least people not wanting the the upheaval?

any tradesmen on here builders joiners etc.hows work where you are? i work in aberdeen and things are real quiet just now.

 

i`m a bricklayer and work in the edinburgh area ! we have a fair bit of work on but the money is total crap :angry: not getting to work at all this week because of the snow and freezing temp`s so pretty grim , building game isn't well and will never come back .

got a 4x3 conservatory in the garden in bits dont think i will get it erected this year snow is now getting deeper by the hour .

aye mate im a joiner ,fitting windows at the moment,were very busy in fact they want me to work every weekend from now till xmas and ive got a 7 windows job of my own to fit also a conservatory to fit my own again also a window a back door and a front door and side screen to fit as well ,also got a house to renovate ,i need 2 ar$e holes ,she wants me to work nights as well with floodlights ,u can never please a wiman

aye mate the lodger hes in aw the time ha ha . am naw kiddin im chockers and fully booked right up till 23rd december and also 2 or 3 jobs already booked in for january as well ,but as ma boss says im his no 1 joiner ,

aye mate the weather disnae affect me much like u brickies are ,but its the same most winters ,well the last two anyways.a thaw is too come by monday or tuesday next week .i hope so

doing my last phase of college in the new year of my apprenticeship then il be a qualified carpenter/joiner, all going well, havent done much carpentry in the last year only odd bits here and there, very bad here in ireland

I do not think the building trade is suffering too much here as i have taken some quotes for a brick wall at the front of the house and also to divide the garden and price has been absurd for what they said is a week job (Supplying my own Joey also)

 

Think you have to appreciate Bricklayers as Artists mate,then just imagine that you are buying a unique piece of art work,then it may appear Cheap. :D :D :D :D :D :D

Vallance I am an artist in burnt clay ( bricklayer ) what price were you qouted for the work giving the size of the front wall and division of rear garden

Would amaze you what some people think brickwork will cost them,have had some instances when what the client was expecting to pay would just about cover the costs of the materials.Garages charge anything from £30 to £45 per hour labour same should apply to Bricklayers.

if they any good they should`nt be more than approx £22 m2 inclsive of sand and cement for facing brick , foundation and brick not included as brick are allsorts of prices and need wall size for foundation .

iam also a joiner and I have enough work until the middle of march,

my wife says if I don't start soon she will get someone in to do it
