Guest IB Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 I don't fancy crossing the North Sea, but I have wondered about a North race - from Lerwick, sea crossing = 150 miles - which would just about reverse the norms we have in National racing just now: North Section - 1st drop, shortest fliers.South Section - Last drop, longest fliers. The other one is the Faroes. Would trade them in place of Inland Nationals anytime. 6 water races, 2 North, 4 South.
Fair Play Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 Most of the birds that fly great distances over water have webbed feet
dal2 Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 emil mccartons gold cup winner was clocked flying just over 13 hours north section winner not clocked till third day if it were with his winner it then travelled at 8mph from then on to get home blodder versus racer rest my case goodnight Ye that'll get some revved up Mike!! Have had this discussion many times and it turns oot that we have different type of birds doon here!! We still win at the distance just not enough distance

Have had this discussion many times and it turns oot that we have different type of birds doon here!! We still win at the distance just not enough distance That's why I reckon 2010 program from Reims and Bourges are ideal distances in that they provide minimum 500 & 600 mile racing for everyone in Scotland. Hope we have the foresight to stick with them.

Hope we have the foresight to stick with them. You can still gan 600+ miles without heading into Belgium IB?. Today there are a lot of fanciers that like the inland nats and are members of the SNFC and should be catered for. Lets not get hung up on thinkin that if your birds are not made for, or you have not set them up for, 600+miles that these pigeons are in some way inferior to others. Its horses for courses for me!!

Guest bigda Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 glad there has been someone, on here saying its unfair racing in the national.
JADE Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 glad there has been someone, on here saying its unfair racing in the national. if you are referring to my post what i said was you will never get a level playing field in doo racing. and that includes club, federation or whatever.
Guest bigda Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 if you are referring to my post what i said was you will never get a level playing field in doo racing. and that includes club, federation or whatever. yep just as i thought, you said there is unfair racing in the national and has to be addressed
Guest bigda Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 was talking to members who where asking me the cost of a geraldy, i said they varied but the one most suited for the national with a sleeping section is a 80 basket and remote control curtain, fully fitted to a 7.5 ton flat bed, it would be £35,000 and a good truck would set you back £20,000 all in all with 40 extra baskets would cost the national £55,000and the money they would get from the race haulage on the first year would reduce the cost by £8,000 so the first year the transporter would have cost £47,000 these transporters can be ready in six week, you can also get a cheaper version of truck and kit out a 90 basket takes up to 2,600 birdsdon't settle for anything less guys its you doughbigda here to help you all as is
Guest bigda Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 not taking a pop, at the nat but should you leave it any later, they can also kit out a transit van for who ever is left
JADE Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 not taking a pop, at the nat but should you leave it any later, they can also kit out a transit van for who ever is left think you should sort your own fed out before losing sleep over the national
Guest bigda Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 think you should sort your own fed out before losing sleep over the national jade do you not want the national to go to the bank and take out some of the members moneys and buy a new truck, are you not for that, do you want to keep the members for another few years on the mooch
alec guinness Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 think you have worn this one out danny boy. ;)
Guest bigda Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 think you have worn this one out danny boy. only asking are the members happy with the money not been spent on a new truck, i get the feeling should any one say anything about it, the likes of clocky on here keeping stum, in fear of what Houston might read on here, 3 years of Houston's wages will buy you a truck, there you go

Steven, either I've misunderstood your post that I replied to (the one saying '(borders) has not enough distance to fly') or you've understood my reply. I wasn't talking about dropping inland nationals, I was suggesting that SNFC race programme should give Borders a race at 500 miles minimum (Reims) and 600 miles minimum (Bourges). That's enough distance for you I hope. And I thought both these racepoints were in France.
walterbmasson Posted November 18, 2010 Report Posted November 18, 2010 YEBOAH HOW MANY TIMES HAVE YOU SEEN ON THIS SITE FANCIERS SAYING THEY WANT DISTANCE WITH THERE BIRDS NOW THERES AN OPTION TO DO JUST THAT AND GIVE THERE BIRDS A GO OF WINNING A GREAT NATIONAL EVENT ALL CROSSING THE SAME WATER AND FIRST BIRD IN THE CLOCK A WORTHY WINNER GET THE BIRDS UP AT 5 TO 5 -30 THIS BIS THE WAY TO GET ALL LONG DISTANCE MENS BLOOD FLOWING JUST AT THE THOUGHT OF TIMING A BIRD FROM SUCH A RACE KNOW IF THIS WAS TO HAPPEN I WOULD SEND THE LOT TO THIS KIND OF RACE PERFECT DISTANCE ONE YEAR BOB WHYTE SENT 12 TO RENNES 661MLS AND I SENT 16 ONE OF THE WORST RACES EVER IN FACT A DISASTER WITH SNFC BUT WE DIDNT COMPLAIN ABOUT IT BUT JUST TALKING ABOUT A 290 MILES OF WATER IS MAKING YOU SHAKE IN YER BOOTS VERY STRANGE FOR THEM THAT WANTS TO COMPETE AGAINST THE BEST

No I understood IB and have nae probs wae the distance but reims is not wot I really want in terms of direction favouring more central like laferte Bernard, Lemans. I feel this is the middle ground between the rennes, sartilly route and the East one. My comment on the inland nats was not a reply to your post and just an opinion that a lot of fanciers keep and train there birds for the 350-450 mile races. This is their prerogative and I feel they are sometimes made to feel inferior compared to a 500-600 mile racers.JMOSorry for any confusion

Guest bigda Posted November 18, 2010 Report Posted November 18, 2010 hi Walter, i never knew there was money collected for a new transporter, and i am sure the Pilgrims would love to know the score , never heard clocky mention this before, just how much was raised for your kitty Walter, have you any idea as to how much was raised. if you get a new transporter i might even consider joining yous for the last few remaining years a 80 bird basket truck will hold 2,000 to 2,240 birds a 90 bird basket will hold 2,520 - 2600 maybe jade will be able to enlighten you Walter
walterbmasson Posted November 18, 2010 Report Posted November 18, 2010 WELL DANNY I CAN TELL YOU THERE WAS A VAST OF MONEY RAISED FOR A NEW TRANSPORTER AND THAT IS A FACT SALES WERE HELD COLLECTIONS ETC BUT I WOULD BE TELLING A LIE IF I QUOATED A FIGURE BUT I WOULD BE IN THE SAFE SIDE SAING 50.000+ BUT SOME MEMBERS THAT WENT TO THE AGMS WOULD TELL YOU MORE BUT I COULD FIND OUT AND LET YOU KNOW THE MORN BUT IAM SURE THE OLD MEMBERS WILL POST BEFORE THEN
