i dont think there can be a comparison between national winners.

different races /different distances /different weather conditions/different birdage...all can be brought into consideration.

When I was a boy Jack Wylie was one of the nicest guys in the sport and gave me loads of encouragement. His doo was a cracker and its blood still runs thro my loft today! Probs a big bit bias but my uncle Jims doo Hoddom Dynamo has some outstanding results and is ready for next year! It is a life time ambition to be a nat winner and anybody that has the prize demands the upmost respect be it inland or channel. Will try again next year to win a race in the greatest club in the world!!!

Cheers Steven

Like i said not many pigeons on the Planet been better racers than that

John Proctor's "McFly" and "Lucky Jim" are two that have impressed me very much in recent times.Only pigeons into Scotland on the night from 600+ miles. The fact the birdages are so small makes it all the more impressive when you think of the work those pigeons had to do on their own.

Into my Fed "Flora Macdonald" the Anderson Bros 1939 Rennes winner is a bit of a legend.

Into whats known today as Section D

you'd have to hand it to Jock Watson's 1975 Avranches winner on the night.

Or

Stuart Peaston's 1st and 2nd Avranches on the night

Got to take your hat off to any National winner really whilst still taking into account it may not be the races best performance

Aye its not easy to win a national into the West Section.Theres been/is a fair few fanciers through there that could easily fall into "best ever" category despite not actually winning a national :)

just an opinion lewis, all national winners are fantastic and make the fanciers the stuff of folklore, hope you got your trophy mate, the night was a great success and seeing some of the north west federation trophies going back decades lined with famous names past and present it was a priviledge to present them. :) :) :) :)

there has been a lot of outstanding birds clocked in the north section that never won a national, including the six gold award winners.so an all time great has to be "marlene,s girl".

1st open from andrezel 626mls on the day for Davie Pirie Aberdeen.
