If you bred 20,000 y/b's a year there must be some good ones.

I only breed 50 John and still expect tae be winnin!!!. You race yer doos as well as the stud John is that correct?

Yes mate, me and my partner in F1 both race to diferent locations. we are first and foremost racing lofts the stud comes 2nd.

By the way we are only a small stud and only breed about 1% of the birds LPW do.

As we said before, the percentage of birds bred to the percentage of winners reported aint great from the big studs.

Ive been in the sport for 30 plus years and have bought birds from louella in the past and had really poor quality birds from them.

There are very few if any studs that i will go to as i dont trust them, john at formula 1 is the only stud i would buy from period as john have said they are racers as well as a stud.

The thing with big studs like louella is you cant tell me if you wanted a kit of say van reets from them and they didnt have any available do you think they would tell you that or take your money and give you anything, i know my thoughts on this.

Go to a stud that are winning themselves and some one you can trust.

Some years ago after a flyaway I bought 12 yb's from Louella,if I said they where poor it would be a compliment.I would prefer a vets certificate to a cert. of origin, which were never forwarded anyway.Never again I'm afraid.

like said before hand by other members better to go to a flyer that is still testing there birds week in week out the likes of formula 1 lofts they still testing the birds they own each week and what gets bred off there stock are being tested week in week out so what does get put up for sale has to be off a standard if it dont graft it dont stay thats the different from a raceing loft to a big stud that sale off names each year but saying that what you be be buying wont be direct of the champion birds buy the time there bred off the champion birds and put son daughters by for stock you be getting gg daughter and gg son so the lines are getting weaked down you get non of that from formula 1 lofts its iver good birds that graft week in week out its got to be good enough for them to race hence why they are a raceing loft 1st stud second to me there the people im looking to go to not the likes of studs that buy in and dont test there offsprings but thats my views.

all the best.

We've got one member in our club (Burtonwood Homing society), did very well with Louella's Bird. He was the farthest radius in our club. And also, he's 1 mile behind of me. He's got exceptional birds & he can beat over & over the members that have an anvantage of 5 miles first drop.

You'll always get knockers of the big studs as you do with pedigrees but none of these will ever be successful fliers as you need to be able to read pedigrees to be in the frame

He used to buy different family's every year from Louella without pedigrees, but still keep beating the members that have an anvantage of 5 miles first drop. ;)

Absolutely, you're right m8. He also beat me as well at the Finals. This year, we've got Knock Out events which is 3 rounds to do it. He play againts with our 2 local members & I play against with the 2 members that have an anvantage 3 miles first drop. As i said, he's got exceptional birds & he's 1 mile behind of me. But, still beat me on the Finals. Can't really wait his DVD. :)

Sorry to drift off topic but would like to correct above post.I am also a member of this club and the member referred to is a good mate of mine and is indeed an excellent pigeonman (topping the Fed.twice this year) but I'm sure he would not agree with the post.I presume myself(3.5mls short drop) and another lad(4.5mls)are the ones referred to,having won 18-1st between us you would hardly say this is being beaten "over and over".See you at the next meeting Manny.atb. :)

No Alex no doubt what you say is true. But I think the point being made is that the birds bought via louella are holding their own.

Again too much is often expected too oo of their birds. Cleared out before end of y/b season etc.

When a good fancier buys in, first off they test against their own stock, then a cross etc. Which in reality if after 3 years most are still there etc. have shown exactly how good they are on that flyetrs system etc. May or may not suit... where others may or may not suit.

Seems also that everywhere the strains and names are manifest regardless... So that is why I bought in from competing lofts.

But the same buts I bought would have been the far higher price than the Louella 10 for £240 or so. But I'd have brought two from Louella in past, and both did well on the road and in the breeding side. JMO.

Hi Roland, don't want to dwell on this as it is off topic but I don't think the point being made was they are holding their own, quite the opposite.atb.

A friend tried I think it was 10 or 12 eagleson Buscharrts but don't think they did much and think some were replaced early on.

The birds are though affordable to gamble with for the normal working man providing they are healthy as not everyone can afford to spend between 50 and 100 on a bird to risk losing off loft or to BOP etc

ERR....i'd take the 5 miles of overfly every week instead of first drop. back on topic louella must be doing something right if they can sell 20k birds. i know advertising is good ...but even so.
