Hi All, was listening to radio station this morning and they were asking for people to get in touch with "real life stories" to air on future broadcasts.

Think this would be a good opportunity to get our plight some publicity and I am going to get in touch with them to see if they have an interest, from previos stories/ debates I have listened to on this station they are likely to have someone on another line putting their point of veiw(RPPB) So what I would like to do is get your veiws on what you think are the --

KEY FACTS - FOR EXAMPLE

1/ How many captive bred hawks are there ?

2/How many songbirds die every year?

3/how many pigeons die each year?

OUR WANTS- FOR EXAMPLE

1/ To completly remove the protection the law is giving to hawks?

2/ To stop/limit them been captive breed and released ?

3/ To be able to relocate to another area any raptor causing problems ?

Above are just a few examples of the points we might like to make, along with the FACT that pigeons played a major roll in helping us win the war.

Please stick to facts in your posts and put in any sujestions you think would help me win any argument there may be with the other side.

I am going to leave it untill Friday before I get in touch with them as that gives me a couple of days to get my facts right,.

Thanx in advance for your help, and in case anyone is wondering I dont have a Hawk problem were I am (1 strike in three years) but feel prevention is better than cure !

relocation is waste of time they will come back , peregrines wander over to europe and back

Well said. all negative answers will get us no where. I think the protection of some hawks still needs to be in place such as the Merlin/Hobby/Red Kites ones that do not cause to much of a problem. The protection of Sparrow Hawks in some areas may be Ok like right out in the sticks but were people are looking after the small wild birds in the towns and citys may need to be controlled if they are causing a problem. The Breed and release will need to be stopped as this is just adding to the problem for the other wild birds. there are I think plenty of Sparrow Hawks around now as we have all stated in past threads. Perigrines are just a menace to all I don't know what could be said about this problem. Just that something needs to be done soon before they completely ruin Pigeon Racing. I have only been racing for 4 years and have lost loads of birds, and i have had a great number return with primary flights missing the typicle place were a Perigrine strikes.

We need to be asking:

1. why the protection order that was put in place in the first place for birds of prey, hasn't been removed.

2. what is the truthfull numbers in Britiain.

3. what numbers are being aimed for, before the say that their numbers have recovered.

4. dont point the questions at pigeons, but at ALL the bird population in general.

5. ask what the numbers are and were of both birds of prey and the rest ie sparrows, finches.

these are just some questions of the top of my head. Well done for doing your bit mucker i hope you make a wee bit of head way. And to the a rse holes that can only contribute s hite, keep it to yiourself, at least he is trying to help the ones that appreciate help.

Regards eck.

ALL PIGEON TRANSPORTERS SHOULD HAVE TRANSFERS ON THERE LORRIES WITH A FALCON EATING A BIRD AND SAYING THIS IS WHERE YOUR MONEY IS GOING IF YOU SUPPORT THE THE RSPB AS THE SONG BIRDS ARE GOING EXTINCT AND ITS WITH YOUR HELP GIVING THEM YOUR MONEY TO SUPPORT THESE EVIL KILLERS TO EAT THEM ALIVE JMO

Well one thing for sure, let all those that wish to write, to voice their opinions etc. do so.

Sooner, rather than later, they may well come to the realism that they are spouting to deaf ears that couldn't care less.

What really suprises me is that some still hope, await the shiney wknight etc. Whilst the B.O.P problem escalates in leaps and bounds

Well Let me tell you, the RSPB sand who ever cares to listen, if any attack my birds they won't come back the second time. Nor would I bother to relocate them.... Mind be nice to leave in another territory and see the B.O.P. there eating it. Yes they do and will and are just Scavengers when the occassion permits.

But fed to fishes or worms doesn't really matter to me.

If vicious dogs has been banned to keep or to breed on this country. Should the Sparrowhaks, as well. This kind of Hawk that can struck the racing pigeons, which obviously you could see that's bigger than them. This kind of hawk that you could see here at the country side, every single day terrorizing the helpless small bird.

There's one thing a kind of hawk, it's quite big. During exercise of my birds. I could see up on the sky my birds flying above of it & it seems not bother. Just wonder what kind of hawk is it.

the main issue is why a bird that saved so many in war times is left to be eaten alive by the same tyrant that stoped it from saving more lifes the situation is now that bad there are no garden birds left keep going on those lines and they will have nothing to hit you with
