Delboy Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 Where were the windmills when Almond Valley liberated?, didnt stop theirs. Aye it did, just back from club and returns last week were horrendous. I was the only one with full returns
gulkie Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 Aye it did, just back from club and returns last week were horrendous. I was the only one with full returnshow is it one man in a club can have such good returns [of which I have no doubt]is it he or she is a better manager-better birds -healthier birds or fitter birds? <_<
frank-123 Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 how is it one man in a club can have such good returns [of which I have no doubt]is it he or she is a better manager-better birds -healthier birds or fitter birds? <_< i think it is all three i think to myself how come i had 6 birds within 17 mins ended up with 9 from 13why could the rest not make it on time were they followers or sick but not showing signs or were they just not up to the job
Rebus Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 I am sure there was a good part of the convoy birds that were there for their first race and maybe not had the training required, plus birds which have returned in the stray basket from earlier training and racing which can hinder part of the convoy from leaving the liberation area.

I have had 9 races this year with my ybs and have lost 6 birds in total. I also think that most folk ration there ybs too much and they have no reserves to get home when they have a hard race.

(and I for one don't disagree with you) there's been more than a few claimed that those that feed their youngsters on basketing day are the cause of all the sickness about as they will be sick in the basket and others will eat this and spread sickness. Mine are fed Friday am., I believe that to be too early, and next year I intend their last meal to be 1/2pm.

JohnQuinn Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 A mate of mine just had the season (yb) of his life, the man he trains with had a very good season too, they were training their young birds in MAY this year along with the old birds, up to about 40mls. They both had heavy losses early on but when the chaff was gone they hardly lost a bird in racing, my mate Aldo go 21/21 in the first Consett and 19/19 in the second one, both races were nothing short of a disaster yet he got all of his both times. You might have thought it was good fortune the first time but the second time confirms his methods were superior to most, including myself I handled his doos through a couple of the races and they were built like Tanks, not BIG doos though they are of medium cast, all were on the darkness and i am looking forward to next year to see how they perform as yearlings
mac1 Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 the main street in consett is full of su strays

Single up, tried it. The best training I think you can do is this, 7mls, 12mls, 25mls x 4, back to 12 mls 3 times a week.CONFIDENCE, CONFIDENCE, CONFIDENCE All the above training works but the last one won me best performance ybs in Midland fed. ( thats hard to achieve where I am located ) May I also say, in the last 10 years of the Kirkintilloch club I was maybe once out the top 3 in yb racing. None of the above without HEALTH . CAN I JUST ADD, MY BIRDS HAVENT HAD A TRAINING TOSS FOR TWO WEEKS. Another key ingredient- Rest
