Its a system that is mainly used in USA due to their late YB racing season, starts around september, you would have to breed very early and get them thru the moult to be any good over here, otherwise you will have birds on last couple flights. In USA they sometimes pull the last 2 or 3 flights if not thrown by end June.

tried it some 10 years ago, I had a video of the Samson brothers

from the states .takes a lot of your time up . I managed to get them to their

2ND and last flight before the first race ,and all through the body moult,

you do have to pull every 2Nd tail feather and when half way up

pull what's left, also you have to breed early youngsters. Samson bro

had there young birds on widow hood and their results where outstanding.

hope this helps. PS if you don't pull the tail they keep it as yearlings

u dont need to pull flights out on the light system u can put darkies onit and stretch the day out with lights on when nights are shorting ;);)

I think you mean at the end of the season? The light system is the exact opposite to the dark. With the dark you want the birds to not moult any flights before racing season, and the light system you want them to moult them all!!

I think you might be mistaken, the top darkness men, do not put there birds on 24hrs of light, they switch on the lights so the daylight stays constant

Hi Shweet,

I have been experimenting with the light system for the last couple of years - I can't say that I have perfected it yet, on the contrary, I have made lots of mistakes - this year I have got it wrong by just 2 weeks for getting the birds ready for the national.

Whatever anyone tells you the system is easier than darkness but it does have some disadvantages. If you want to pm me I will let you know the pitfalls that I have come up against.

Best regards

D.D.
