Guest paulrstokes Posted August 17, 2010 Report Posted August 17, 2010 Bakes All of my early season training was like this, 20 miles and after 3 hours I would get one, and they would come all day. After a day or so took them to the same spot, and bang 22 minutes, I would think they have finaly cracked it, next day take them back and again three hours, and split. I went from 33 youngsters to 16 in days, every time I tossed i would drop one or two, however I decided to percivere and after around 6 weeks the penny has dropped the kit of 16 will do the 20 mile stage in 20 minutes whatever the weather. I do not know whether it was Bop, illness, clashing or what, if self critical I was perhaps a little liberal with the corn. I know it is hard, but stick with it, they will soon get the hang of it, I was going to close the YB loft until next year, but I stuck at it and suddenly out of nowhere they started to race home. Saturday from 135 miles in the rain I had 5 drop together from 13 sent to take 2,3,4,5,6 club. All the best
Guest mick bowler Posted August 17, 2010 Report Posted August 17, 2010 I'm sure they will turn in Bakes. Paulrstokes, sounds very much like BOP. The ybs will eventually find a safe route, they will know where they are hunting and avoid it, these birds not stupid. My main problem pair is enroute (work in progress ), and seem to hunt one side of the mountains, my birds just wont go anywhere near they always come to the north despite wind weather and lib point. I only found out by libbing them directly under the "hunting area" and my birds went mental, trying to clear the area while staying as low as they could.
Roland Posted August 17, 2010 Report Posted August 17, 2010 B.O.P. However I believe those worth having will get back. - Hopefully all of them. I. like every one else can't put a realism of course when this happens. Have released in gale force nigh, all home after a hard work out. Pouring rain and fog. Yet have lost - far too many - from 5 miles on good days when over looking their loft. When aside a mssive church, and a 2 1/2 square mils of lakes.... must be seen 40 -50 miles away when birds are up high. Yet straight past, or lost! Personally I went back to 20 odd miles first chuck. Was hitting Nottingham regularly after 3 chucks, and losseses no where near as bad.(Lost a little bottle I guess as would normally be 35 -miles or so. Then two / three longer chucks in different direction. then first catch up race of 112 or 140 miles. So we just don't know, and seem to hit on a routine hat suits us, and then we are happy and swear by it. Good luck Bakes, I'm sure most will get home ... doing them the world of good I guess. Won't race well Saturday though I fear as it will have took the edge of them I believe.
greenlands Posted August 17, 2010 Report Posted August 17, 2010 Hi Klaus, hope they turn in mate,it's hard enough to get a team together when you have an established loft, where as once over if you had 20/30 youngens you could fly the whole program and have birds to spare .Now your lucky to get to the first race breeding 60.Good luck mate.Lindsay.

billt Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 Klaus I'm sure it's not something you're doing wrong, did the the other guys on the trainer have bad returns?, sounds like a BOP attack to split well trained birds like that, don't lose heart, you'll get there with your enthusiasum, Stay with it. All the best
Grim Reaper Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 Remember, when a flock of pigeons are subject to a BOP strike, their only thought is to escape. They will panic fly in all directions, and will continue for some miles. It's only when they regain their composure do they think of home, this journey could take a few days. I sincerely hope your returns get better.
Guest bakes Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 thinking of you mo chara can only get better micko on wards and upwards from now on mate all the bestklausnikki
