I got a bird in from quarry bank.

It's been sat on my trap for four days and we were racing today.

I caught it on the trap cos I didn't want it there when mine come.

Rang the owner as it must have had 6 wing stamps.

He says can you chuck it out this way.

I'm in Rugby I don't come your way.

Can you chuck it when you go training.

You know it'll come back to me.

It will if you've fed it he says.

You try and help a so called fancier and this is what you get. (not a fancier in my eyes)

He's only 45 mins away but I shouldn't feed it.

as you say its no wonder we get bad press,i drove to southampton to collect a yb from a non fancier and she was amazed when i actually got to her house as she,d been told that we fanciers never want our birds back and that she was wasting her time and we wonder why we get so few lost birds reported? id make him send for it the ungrateful git kev

I used to call the owner right away everytime i've got an stray. There's a once, when i'm talking the owner on the phone's denying he has no pigeon & he doesn't know what i'm talking about & he hung up the phone. Then, I've ask my pigeonmate to have ago to talk the owner, but still denying it. My mate, explaine to him, how come his landline number it's on it. My mate was not happy after their conversation. The next day very early morning, during time of my training. Take it with me to Crewe (approx. 35miles). Then, giva single toss that stray. After 20 minutes, I release my ybs. Should be gone home buy now that stray. Never seen it again.

Think i'm in the Minority here BUT when i phone a guy to report his bird, i offer him Every option on how to deal with the situation, i just widnae make someone pay for a doo he didnae want. £45's are pretty short in some households just now. jmo lads

same way i do it john i make sure the owner is under no pressure to send for it from the off

DONE THE VERY SAME THING TONIGHT WHEN I REPORTED A DOO AND THE BOY PHONED ME JOHN I ASKED HIM WHAT HE WAS GONNAE DO WITH THE BIRD IF/AFTER HE CAME AND GOT IT AND DID HE WANT ME TO DEAL WITH IT AS I WOULD NEVER FORCE ANYONE TO COME FOR A PIGEON IF THEY DONT WONT IT MATE....BUT IT'S GETTING PICKED UP THE MORRA EVENING BY SAID PERSON

I'm surrounded way guys who have plenty roads for their money Alan, so i'm guessing its pretty much the same all over the country.

 

I would just add, if i get one reported to me, i ask the guy right out if he wants the bird, and if he disnae i send the courier asap.

had a bird reported by a none fancier in eastbourne a few weeks ago flown out i rang the secretary of the local club who picked the bird up for me but we left it for a week as it was in a bad way i then went down to collect it a round trip of 470mls had a lovely day out at the beach would have been cheaper to send a courier for it but at the end of the day i had the chance to thank the secretary for looking after it personally

the worst thing is when you report a bird, they always say there very old retired, disabled, and cannot afford to pay the courier, and then they ask do you want it, as soon as you say i got enough sh*t of my own, the next thing they say is 'can you do me the favour?'. Hence i feel one of the reason why birds dont get reported nine times out of ten.

I have had 5 birds in the last 2 races from other club members, and did i even get a call, nope, not even a thanks for taking the one last week 30 miles to toss it up and the owner didnt even know if it was back or not yesterday!!

i have to agree. except in this case the fancier is close enough to go and collect. i'd report to rpra as he's being naughty. JMO
