Guest IB Posted August 7, 2010 Report Posted August 7, 2010 So whit went wrang.Atmospherics were not right siting today how many wee birds did you see in the Sky. Something I saw today that happens here in August every year, and wondered if it was just a local or widespread phenomenon - a flying ant hatch? The sky was full of hundreds? of gulls wheeling & swooping after these insects as they hatched? on the ground and swarmed into the sky. Think if that was happening up & down the country today it would spook our youngsters.

Interesting IB, phoned a friend as usual on race day and he had lost interest because of how the race was going, but he was more interested in the hatch that you have described which was happening within his garden, he was mesmerized by the numbers that were coming from the hatch, thousands he said, makes you wonder
thunderbigbaws Posted August 7, 2010 Report Posted August 7, 2010 it,s just not my day chin up brian, you have more
alex wight Posted August 7, 2010 Report Posted August 7, 2010 jeeeeesus christ, bloody nightmare, 5 from 17 from Kelso 48 miles, 48 bloody miles. For someone who is trying their hardest to build a decent team, i,m not getting the rub of the green. I got wiped out at eastbourne leaving me with 3 old birds for next year, and now i get a bloody hammering with my young guns. Geeeeeez a brek .

I can vouch for that Ian.Saw thousands of them whilst i was waiting on the doos, which took their time btw.Got the last one home an hour ago though-16/16Another strange race for the Northwest Fed,everybody seems to be getting there now mind you.

JohnQuinn Posted August 7, 2010 Report Posted August 7, 2010 I absolutely believe that if you vote a race program in that is less than 60mls to the shortest flying member of your Fed, your just stoking trouble for yourselves. Young birds need time to sort themselves out in a race and 46mls isnae NEARLY far enough. JMO

Just had a read at this thread from start to end, seems to have been a fairly black day The last thing thats needed so early in the YBs racing careers. Hope the missing pigeons work their way back and will be harder to lose for it
