sapper756 Posted July 26, 2006 Report Posted July 26, 2006 Having experienced yet another disasterous race from 525miles, I,m begining to ask myself, where should I be looking for reliable distance blood. Up here in Fife Dennis Dall seems to be a reliable source. Any ideas?
celtic Posted July 26, 2006 Report Posted July 26, 2006 what about some of the flyers a bit more north from fife ? there seem to be good flyers in the clock regulary from up north .
Chris Little Posted July 26, 2006 Report Posted July 26, 2006 If it is Scottish based birds you are after then just study the national results over the last few seasons , the same names are at the top end.
jimmy white Posted July 26, 2006 Report Posted July 26, 2006 if you look at dandydoos sale on the for sale post, im positive youll get the best of the scottish distant birds there, worth a look,

Guest WINGS 04 Posted July 27, 2006 Report Posted July 27, 2006 TRY KARDALE STUD THEY HAVE SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF MOST OF THE BEST LONG DISTANCE BIRDS IN SCOTLAND
Roland Posted July 27, 2006 Report Posted July 27, 2006 Realistically any fit conditioned bird should home from 540 miles. Prehaps not quick enough, but then that is down to the fancier. Had a fellow the other week say 'Cor Roland, can't understand dem, the come like the clappers on training tosses, swirl half a circle and then in.... I can't understand it'! Birds are fit and conditioned......That is why he still at the bottom when he times in!
Mike Lycett Posted July 27, 2006 Report Posted July 27, 2006 Jim Donaldson... He gets em all the time up into Northern Jockland
sapper756 Posted July 27, 2006 Author Report Posted July 27, 2006 YES I AGREE, HOWEVER I,VE NEVER HEARD OF OTHERS WINNING WITH HIS BIRDS, SO DOES HE GIVE YOU HIS BEST?
Guest WINGS 04 Posted July 27, 2006 Report Posted July 27, 2006 YOU CAN BY THER BIRDS BUT YOU CANT BY THE MAN
Westwater Assassin Posted July 27, 2006 Report Posted July 27, 2006 Plenty of "GOOD" 500 mile men in Fife and they seem to get better every year , Get on the phone to the likes of Jock King, Brian Chalmers, Jim & Gary Peggie (i could mention more) these guy are always there or there abouts at the "BIG BOYS RACES" . As for them giving you there best ? well i see no point in them giving you a bad one as it only makes the Fancier look bad as well. 500 miles is not easy !!!!!!!
andy Posted July 27, 2006 Report Posted July 27, 2006 ALL THE GOOD 500 MILE MEN HAVE 1 OR 2 OR EVEN 3 GOOD PIGEONS IN THEIR LOFTS WHICH KEEP THEM AT THE TOP FOR A COUPLE OF SEASONS AND THEN YOU FIND THEY HAVE A COUPLE OF LEAN YEARS UNTIL THE QUALITY COMES OUT AGAIN. NOW THESE GUYS HAVE 50 OR 60 BIRDS IN THEIR LOFTS AT LEAST, AND TOO GET 1 OR 2 OF THEM FOR YOURSELF AS MAYBE YOUNGSTERS OR LATE BREDS TO DO THE BUISNESS IS LONG ODDS. YOUVE GOT TO GET AT LEAST 3 OR 4 PAIRS TO HAVE HALF DECENT ODDS, AND WITH A BIT OF LUCK AND SKILL YOU NEVER KNOW!!!!!!!!!! ALL THE BEST ANDY M....
jimmy white Posted July 28, 2006 Report Posted July 28, 2006 definately agree with you andy,, most folks buy a pair of ybs , loose them ,then say so and so,s birds are no good, you need a firm base of a good few , able to breed from them , form a team , then your loft management and know how, comes in to practise,,,and even then the greats, dont come 10 a penny
